BloomFest

Saturday is for cherry blossom hunting. Officially! I've been wanting to see the DC cherry blossoms for goodness knows how long. (Goodness DOES know: 4 years!) So this weekend we decided to be-bop on up to DC to behold the cherry blossom BloomFest.

Unfortunately our Cherry blossom joy was a wee bit premature - the tidal basin blossoms were not in bloom. But we did spot some trees on the Capitol and I'm am now an immense cherry blossom fan. Seriously, the trees ARE PINK AND FLUFFY!

I mean, if a tree CAN be fluffy, which it can right?
 Totally! Absolutely! YES! Maybe?

There were also about 400 portapoties on the National Mall. So classy DC, so classy.

What did you do this weekend?

A story about love

I'm not the mushy gushy type. At all. Mush and gush is fine for pea soup but romance? Please! And so while I love Valentines Day - mostly because of the chocolate and roses....hello, I also kind of don't like it.

It's really a very difficult thing to navigate. Thank you for your sympathy.

So my story about love is different.
Because well, so am I.

As you all know, I am a firm believer in smelling nice. Perfume, lip gloss, body lotion - you name it. (also reason 155456 why this store is my wallets worst nightmare.) The amount of perfume I use a day is quite embarrassing, but somehow, I'm sheepishly proud of it.

ANYWAY!

I like to smell good, and I normally do.

so as the love story goes,

An 8 year old friend of mine walks into a room that smells very lovely. She smiles to her mama "This room smells so nice.....it smells like Kryn!"

Which of course made my heart gush and bubble and do back flips. What a compliment!  What an honor! Who cares if my clothes match now and who cares if I've got bacon stuck in my braces, I've got my perfume to fall back on.

For the record, my heart is the only part of me that can do a successful back flip and not injure itself or others. So instead of pretending to be a gymnast, I think I'll just stick to bathing in perfume daily - I seem to be better at that.

What is your story about love?

HAPPY SPRING! Amen.

Pajama Vibes

Well, this is embarrassing. I'm publicly admitting I love my pajamas.

I know there are some people who can't get ANYTHING done when they are in their pajamas. I hear ya peeps. I mean, pajamas are for beds and beds don't accomplish much except sawing logs and making you get up late.

But then, there's me.

I on the other hand, am like a pajama dynamo. Of course, I have my lazy days where all I want to do is watch you tube videos. But then I also have my rock star pajama days where I'm practically shouting "I AM GOING TO CONQUER THE WORLD!"

Something along those lines.

I turn on my turbos and attack every speck of dust in site (pajamas, dusting - does it get any better?) You guys better watch out...I get pretty fierce in my pjs. And besides the fact that I've been rambling on about PAJAMAS FOR PETES SAKE, I was going to tell you that today was NOT a dynamo day. The pajama vibes were NOT flowing.

So I got dressed in my favorite dress, because when pj's aren't doing it for ya, you'd better stick to floral prints, my friend.

There are a few reasons I don't have a fashion blog.....Reason one: This post.

(and this one)

The Shade of Lemonade

Lately, I have been loving all colors bright and happy. In other words: Lemon. I know, I usually hate Lemon (and all shades of yellow) but very now and then I go through yellow/lemonade loving spurt. I never like butter yellow though. I hate it. But anyway, I love shades of lemonade. As I've been telling you throughout this entire post.  Lemonade just makes yellow sound pretty, and pretty yellow is like sunshine and sunshine is happiness. Right? Right.

I'm glad we've cleared that up.

Lemon overload? Never. What colors are you loving? xoxo...kryn

A day at the fair

Yesterday we went to the fair. I basically love fairs. I like the fried food, riding cheesy rides and looking at all the entries. Oh, and I like making money. This year, I made $145.  I am pretty much a happy clam. I entered these killer brownies that won Best in Division and Best in show. In other words, $75 dollars. I even considered not entering them, because they did look horrible! But of course, I'm thrilled I did because they can support my shopping endeavors. I am now thinking of all the great things I can buy. And I wish Fairs came more often. Because I know it won't be too long before I'm broke again.

Thanks Emily for taking pictures! And if you were wondering, #1 is what you should do if you want to model pathetically. I'm just here to help you all. XOXO, Kryn

PS: What do you think of my dress? It was not what I pictured making, but it turned out cute. Its also kind of Retro! (Eeek! I love retro/vintage stuff.)

Its Spring and I'm happy

Spring is finally here. Its time to do something awesome. I love spring! Spring just seems happy and sunshiney. I am hoping to have an awesome spring this year. Happy Spring! xoxo, kryn

Bloom

Okay, so I finally celebrated plant a flower day. One week later. But at least I did it. I am the type of girl who once I decide I want to do something, I persist until it gets done. At first, Dad said no(ish) but last night we made it to Lowes and picked up some little flowers ( oh, and yes, I grabbed a bunch of paint chips to add to my collection.)

So I planted my flowers like a flower planting pro. I watered them like a pro. Then my punk came and dug a huge hole and broke a bunch of my pretties...like a pro. I think I need to train her to be a little more unprofessional in her methods, that might save more of the flowers next time around. Anyhow, I salvaged most of them and Sophie went back to chasing lizards. Then Bubbles came, and in the same pro like manner as Sophie, attacked the same plant and dug another hole. It will be a miracle  if these flowers last a week.

I love how they pretty up the yard. I feel all springy now, with the  great weather and Easter being right around the corner and now the flowers are the icing on the cake. Oh, and I have peeps. Peeps are the official food of spring.

Have a super duper Sunday! And I hope I don't sound like an 8 year old, but I mean it.

My so called helper.

And the other helper."

First Orchid

My little resolution to have flowers around has been going well. I'm not sure when I'll get to the completed phase, but at the moment I love having flowers in the house. Since my Valentines Day tulips, we've had 2 more sets flowers - which is really impressive for us. And we got orchids! I love orchids, but I've never actually had one. My dad's boss sent it to us, and the best thing is that we can (hopefully) keep it alive and always have orchids around. Mom and I are going to let Dad handle it,  he's got the green thumb. Ours our are a lovely shade of black.

Sorry about the light postings - I promise to get my celebrations into gear. Hope your Wednesday was fantastic! xoxo

This Little Piggie...

Word on the street is that people like my, this little piggie and o-negative awesomeness post from June.I never actually thought anyone liked it because I didn't really get any response on it, until 6 months later. I the reason they like it is because there is a really awkward picture of my self. But anyway, as a special treat for those of you who like it, I went back and took out all the enormous spaces so it is a little easier for you to read.

Go check it out!

And one last thing:

I. want. these. bad.

Washi Tape Experiment.

To be honest, I'm not totally clear on washi tape. I think its just tape. Washi style. I messed around a bit, a lot, and gave it a try. Here's the result
We are just plain cool.
Yay or nay? Washi or not? I like it for some things, but I'm not sure washi would be great on everything. For now, it looks cute on this picture.  I think I should get my hands on some real washi tape.

Enjoy your day! I'm off to go camping and intend to have a super great time. What are you doing this weekend?

Wu Hoo - Hawaiian Prints!

I have lived in a tropical place almost my entire life, so naturally I'm smitten on Hawaiian prints. Just about every family portrait that has been taken has been filled with Hawaiian prints and kids who cross their eyes and  have crooked teeth. Jason Wu's resort collection is filled with pretty Hawaiian themed florals, take a look.

What do you think of these tropical lovelies? One of my life goals is to wear something Jason Wu. I mean, REAL Jason Wu. I do have a Jason Wu shirt, but its not "really real." With that said, I'd better go get a job.

Thumb people painting

I'm calling this the thumb people paiting. But promise me this : You wont laugh at my awkward looking thumb people? If you promise then keep reading.

Now, I do NOT claim to be an artist. While I would love to be one, there is not one artistic gene in my body. Its just not my thing. I sort of have to be content with looking at other peoples art and enjoying it. When I saw this painting in some peoples house, I thought for sure this was something I could do. It didn't require too much. I can draw weird little faces okay (or so I thought.) I had a canvas so I was set.
All in all, its actually quite cute. I am hoping everyone else I draw turns out much better. Here's how you do this: you need a canvas, paint and a thin sharpie. Simply paint your thumbs (and a few other fingers) and make prints all over. Try to fill as much up as possible. I am noticing now that some one my people are sitting on on soon to be people. Then when its dry, start drawing funny little people.
I think I used a 1/2 inch canvas.
I went with a bunch of bright colors, but I think this would be really sweet with more monochromatic colors. Like violet. Or pink. or aqua!

Let me know if you make this!

Only slightly addicted.

I admit it.

I am really in love with paint chips. Sample cards? color card? Swatches? What ever you call them, I really do love them. Every time I go in a store with these paint thingamajigs, I have problems not stuffing one of every color in my purse! I kind of went crazy at Wal-Mart yesterday. But there are so many pretty little things I can make out of them, I kind of like having all different colors on hand.

Why haven't I been posting? Mostly because I don't want to. I know, great blogger! I have been procrastinating really bad this week - I've even been putting off my craft projects. If that happens, somethings up. I've been busy learning about GDP and monarch butterfly migration and all that jazz.

Hope your Monday is nothing but sweetness! xoxo

Cupcake Love

Happy Valentines Day Everybody! I hope you all are having a great day and are feeling loved. Dad usually brings Mom and I flowers, but he's out of town this year. My Valentines present came home with Dad on Saturday,
Raspberry and Salty Carmel cupcakes! I've been savoring them over the weekend and very impressed with my self for leaving some for Valentines day. Nothing is like a Sprinkles cupcake. Have I mentioned that before? This is my last 14 things I love post. I've rather enjoyed it. What are some things you love?

Happy Hearts Day! XOXO

What I would wear: Valentines day

I'm not wearing anything uber exciting today. Just a dress, tights and my old standby: a cardigan. I'm not into going over the top for valentines day. But, I'm sure I would go over the top if I had enough money to buy any of these things...
What are you wearing this valentines day?

On my radar: Spring Dresses

Since "spring" is fairly close I've been in the mood for dresses. Lot and Lots of dresses. Even though here I can wear dresses all year long, Spring just kind of seems like the time of year to acquire new dresses.

Here are the dreamers:
So cute! I adore the bowish thingy.

Mustard scallops? Divine.

And now to the practical ones...

This might be short on me, but I love how fun and playful it is. Plus, I love mustard anything!
Let me just say this....I LOVE CHAMBRAY. Thanks. I've been needing to get that out. I love Chambray shirts and dresses. Love, love love.

Are you ready for spring dresses? I don't think you need me to tell you that I am.

Bigness and Longess

I've been a slacker I admitted it and now we are moving right along. Rather than do 3 post for my 14 things I love, I'm just going to combine them all into one. I like things to be tidy.

Day 7: Baking with no dishes love
Bakery story is a fun little app that I only play around Valentines day. You open up your bakery and then bake away! I love all the treats you can make. And, NO DISHES!! You can make stuff and no dishes. I have to repeat it because it is extremely glorious. Of course, the fact that you can't eat it is not so great but whatever. No dishes= Love There is really not much to this game, but I totally love it. And I like Apps that make toast. Maybe I'm a little crazy? Nah....

Day 8: Emma Love (make it obsession.)
Okay, you knew this one was coming. I love Emma to the moon and back and back again. I smile through the entire movie (yes, even after I've watched it 7 billion times). There is just something uber wonderful about Emma. Maybe it's the English accents. Maybe it's the gorgeous gowns. Maybe because the men were actually Gentlemen. It might even be the fact that I am in love with their couches ( hmm, not sure couches is the "proper" term.) Also, Emma and I have a lot in common. We both talk too much and are way to nosy.

Basically, you have to go watch the BBC Emma this very second. Go!!!

On second though, hang around till you finish reading this post. Then you can go fall in love with Emma.

Day 9: Endearment Love.

The last one is Endearing terms, also known as terms of endearment. Believe me, I give everything and one a nickname. Tubs is a prime example, here is a sampling of hers:
Tubby
Pumpkin
Butternut Squash (please, don't ask.)
Miss Moon Eyes
Pudgeulator (these are not even words!)
Sophster
Punk
Punkadilly

You get the point. I also have a bunch of nicknames. My dad gave me most of them, I sort of follow in his foot steps with this whole thingy. Dad named a pillow case after Shaun Cassidy. I've been looking for Shaun for a while now. I'm still hunting for that purple piece of satin.

Thank you for suffering through this immense post. Remember your orders? Good, now be a good little kiddlet and obey!
