Goodbye July

Also known as, Goodbye Summer! Tear! With that goes swimming and band and long days with nothing to do and so much time....ahhh. That being said, these days of NOTHING have been a little too much. I'm a busy bee type of person, so having no classes or anything really is kind of unexciting.

The goals were a bit iffy this month. But, I did happen to blog a whole lot more, and got some followers (thanks a TON!) In my real life, I was about as unproductive as a hippo. Which was nice and scary and weird.

And I apologize to any hippos I might have offended by that statement.

Make Ice Cream
Read Bible 2x a day
Make one outfit post (and publish it!)
Post 2 diy's/crafts
make list of things needing to be done for each day
Sell ebay items
Make dinner 2-5 times
Drink Soda from a glass bottle
Clean room before band each morning
Reach Savings goal
Read 4 classics
Have fun at band concert
Cross off EVERYTHING on my summer list

New goals coming tomorrow....I really needed to tease you on that! xoxo

Observations from the couch

Here I am...blogging about the thighs of gymnasts. I think it's mainly just muscle envy.

While watching the Olympic trials, I noticed there was something different about a few of the gymnasts. Nothing huge or major (well, except the fact that they were DIFFERENT people than last time, I'm not that silly.) After a while, we figured out it was their thighs!

Here are pictures of Carly from 2004 and Nastia from 2008 (Yes, we really are on a first name basis....except they don't know I exist. Ignore that fact.)

and now, Gabby Douglas and Jordan Weiber (I'm still using last names. Clearly, we have not gotten to know one another so well. After all, we are only a few days into the Olympics!)

Much larger right?
Totally!

Okay, not that different.

I think I had a smudge on my glasses. I'm pretty sure. I hope.

And that's what I observe from the couch.  Oh, and when I go to the gym and get on treadmills with tv I always watch food network. It's a total oxymoron. That had nothing to do with gymnasts thighs. Like I said, oxymoron.

Olympia

I love the Olympics! It must be the proud American in me, but I seriously just want our people to win! No offense to the Russians and Chinese, but we Americans have way more team spirit. Which is way more awesome. If I had an Olympic shirt, I would totally be wearing it. Just so everyone in our house can know which team I'm rooting for. Oh, and I'm thrilled the gymnastics gym is pink. Me and Jordan Weiber - we like pink.

Of course, the Olympics start on the day I have my swim meet. I went and did my best. I swam hard and even did well in the relay. I felt pretty good. And then I came home and watched the Olympics. And I felt like a dork.

I'm exhausted after a 50? and they are doing 800 METERS? Geez, watching the Olympics is NOT a way to boost self confidence.

Also, our friends stopped by today. Which was extra cool! Because I'm more the "Just stop by" type than the plan for weeks in advance. Spontaneous is just so much more fun right? They also came over post swim team-mid nap- pre shower (which basically means I was sleeping and my hair looked like a rats nest. Lovely.) I woke up, blabbered a little, got some lemonade and forgot to drink it and had a wonderful time for the 10 minutes they were there.

So that was my day. I'm off to watch more Olympics. Prepare to see my swimming self confidence reach an all time low.

I want it a back (said in my best 2 year old voice)

Last Summer. It was seriously the best summer ever.

I got to go to camp, got to spend time with my cousins and all my friends. And eat way too much ice cream.

I really want it back.

I'd also like to take back this:
Uh, awkward? Who stands like this? By a fence, eating a blizzard, in a pencil skirt??!?! So embarrassing!

I should have sat on the fence. That would have made it a whole lot better.

I think.

What memory do you want to relive?

Love, Miss Sentimental

PS: It's funny how little I look in these pictures. I totally thought I was the bees knees. What does that make me now, the bee's hips?

That made no sense.

Stargazing.

Stargazing was one of the first things I put on my summer list. I love Stargazing. Mainly because stars boggle my mind, just like addition and how food bloggers stay skinny. Among other things. 2+2 really equals 4?? Get out, I know you are lying.

Anyway! Regardless of whether your pants are on fire or not, I went stargazing. The first problem is that I only know 1 constellation. It's Orion, and whenever I see him I shout for joy and tell everyone I'm with about him. Clearly though, my star repertoire needed to be expanded. So then I faced problem #2: finding new ones! After much googling, mom found me this iPad app.

IT WORKS!

Really. I was so thrilled. I found new constellations and made dad and mom come outside and watch me giggle and snort and trip over unidentified objects in the dark. I spotted planets and far away stars and basically thought I was the coolest person ever.Well maybe I was. In my backyard anyway.

Let's be frank (and eat hotdogs:) Stargazing is cool!

PS: Something uncool? Having your iPad background and blog header match. Ouch. Sorry about the sizing issues for the header, on my computer, it's fairly small! Oh geez, let's all just get the same size monitor okay? That would clear up all the confusion.

Awkward moments....Awkward Life

I lead a very awkward life.

Now I know, it's mostly my fault. If I could avoid awkward moments, by george, I would! And I really should dye my hair blond (As I've mentioned before) because then I would have a really awesome excuse for...

-imitating Jordan Weiber in the grocery store, and then noticing all the 19 year old baggers are watching. An olympian in their midst? They were entranced.

-singing build me up buttercup in Ikea, then realizing I'm in public and should stop, only to be passed by 3 other people singing it just as loudly. Who knew ikea patrons were so musical?

-having our car covered in flies and shouting "Quick, Lock the doors!"

-Not being able to read the menu at the Sonic drive through and telling mom to "scroll up" (Proof I was raised in the 21st century!)

-Not being able to open some pasta sauce, and asking dad to "unlock it " for me. (want more proof? I do these kind of things daily!)

-finding a J.Crew magazine (catalog) in the mail and unconsciously dancing....in the middle of the street.

So apparently, I'm okay with my awkward life because I share it on the internet. On the one hand, it makes things awkward (really!?) and on the other, it makes things hilarious.

What funny/awkward things have happened to YOU recently?

Xoxo....Kryn

ps: Yes, I switched the design again? Do you hate it? You really should tell me if the header is square on your computer, because it is on mine but not on everyone else's. Square up people!

( I don't really know what that is, but I suggest not imitating a square with your body. That could get weird quick.)

These last few days

For me, it's the last week of summer. Not because school is starting, but mostly because I always think of August as the end of summer. Which explains why I don't like August, but anyway. We are busy prepping for school and filling out forms and such. Yeesh! Why doesn't it stay summer ALL year?!

Although, I love fall! Mainly because of the pretty leaves (that we don't have here) but mostly because cute notebooks are 90 cents. I'm kind of love notebooks. Oh, and the tissues. I didn't get any last year. This year, I am NOT missing out on the puffy white awesomness.

(for those of you who don't know, I seriously love tissues.)

(for those of you who don't know, I think I need to pick up a hobby.)

Feeling like a photoshop boss

Weekends are for moaning, groaning and experimenting in photoshop! How did I do for my first time around? Fact: I have a weird profile.

One of my goals for the year was to learn more in photoshop. HTML was a bust (I have serious perseverance issues, it's July and I've given up?!) but photoshop is not so bad! I rather like it. And I'm totally in love with the constellation silhouette.

Which one is your favorite? And what are your favorite things to do in photoshop?

Love, The Boss

Happy {Fri} Day!

When it comes to these posts, I never really know what to say. Should I tell you about my week in detail? Or do I let my midget list speak for itself. Would you like to know how many grilled cheeses I ate or how many days I didn't get out of my pajamas?

You tell me.

Until then, I'll tell you that you should be proud of me because I didn't use a shot of a.) my feet) and b.) clouds. They really are my downfall, but they do photograph nicely.

And did you know that saving for a camera totally stinks? It means missing out on the coolest of jeans. And well, a lot of things. But I suppose it's worth it.

How has your week been?

Xoxo, Kryn

Make your own: Ombre Shirt

When I first saw a neon ombre shirt, I knew I had to make one. I can take neon in small doses, and ombre is just the way to do it! I wanted to do it relatively cheaply, so I picked up this shirt on sale at Target for $6 (Although, regular price is only $8!) And I will say that normally I don't wear v-necks, but I thought it worked for this. It made me feel a little weird, but hey. Let's call it expanding my horizons. An expansion of about 2 inches.

Anyhow, let's get on with it!
First gather these things, along with one cup of water. You also might want to use a different bottle than the one the Tumble Dye comes with - I found it didn't work so well. (And yes, Angela Merkel is really excited, Germany loves neon too!)

ONE: Spread out your shirt on the newspaper (you may want to layer a plastic bag under it, just in case there are any drips) 2: Begin spraying the shirt. You can start at the top or bottom. THREE: Add 1/2 - 1 tablespoon water to the dye. Shake it so it mixes. 4: Spray a little further down, about 3 inches. 5: Repeat steps 3 & 4 (as many times as you like). Let the shirt dry COMPLETELY. 6: Set the dye by drying the shirt in the dryer (you needed me to tell you this) for 20 minutes!

Oh, and if you happen to photograph your obmre adventure, maybe take a look at what's on the newspaper before hand. Just in case you happen to not notice the lady in a bikini cheering on your ombre adventures.

But, I really don't speak from personal experience.  Those hearts are really just there to show my love for neon. And my un-love for other things....(See above.)

Happy Neoning....if that is such a thing!
XOXO, Kryn

Neon

A few weekends ago, I decided to embark on a little neon action. Needless to say, I love neon now. Just a little.
Yes, I do like putting words on pictures. I like feeling like a really cool person when doing so. Words on pictures - the utmost of coolness!

Good news! I have my blogging calendar all laid out for the rest of July! I'm going to put a LOT more effort into blogging on this blog. My other blog was taking up way to much time, but now I've got things figured out and THANKFULLY have a calendar so hopefully it wont be as bad as June. Although, the school year is coming. We'll see how that goes. We've just about got everything set for me. I'll have activities Monday, Tuesday, be gone all day Wednesday and busy on Thursday. Throw in a little volleyball (aka: early morning practices!) and I'm fairly sure I'll be whining for summer in about a week of school.

I'm glad we've had this chat. I think I'm going to go pester Sophie. She needs it. Oh, and tomorrow I'll show you what I was working on!

The Tennis Court problem

(this has nothing to do with this post. It just needed a picture, and Tubs is always my model.)

The problem with our dear little town is the placement of the Tennis courts. They are right in the middle of town. Right near the park and police station and directly across from the biggest mansion here. Of course, only novice tennis players are bothered by it, I'm sure. My main reason is that EVERYONE in town can see me playing. Well, more like chasing the ball around, flapping my arms like I think they are wings and swinging my racket when the ball's already behind me. The poor teenage kids who were on a date in the park. They tried not to stare, but really. They were having trouble figuring out if I was actually playing tennis or imitating the anhinga. Minus the flying around. I don't think I was trying that.

I know a song about the anhinga. I think I'll sing it. Which means, you'd better run or cover your ears. And I suggest both!

Have a wonderful Monday -
Xoxo, Kryn

Down by the water

As we were driving home from the concert, the clouds were practically yelling "stop and take a picture of me!" so what's a girl to do? (convince her mother to) Stop of course! I ended up not getting a great shot of the clouds - due to the fact that there was a 6 ton bridge in the way. But the sky and sea were pretty and I was just as happy. (Okay, and so that's not really the sea, it's a river. Just imagine.)

Yes, this is the 3rd time in the past 4 days you've seen my feet in those shoes. I kind of love feet shots (Oh, you didn't notice?) and when you are wearing espadrilles that look like taco's, you might as well take a whole bunch.

AND! My new Photoshop awesome thingy majig? Textured Text! I already tried saying that 5 times fast and it didn't work, so I'm not going to advise you to do the same. But textured text is what I did and I can make my text out of any image now - who's boss?! Oh yes. Me, the 8 year old.

Pinked up

This is not astronomical by any stretch. But I'm kind of lazy. Okay fine. Totally lazy. As far as manicures go, this means I basically paint one hand and if we are talking pedicures, 6 of my toe nails. So giving my self a (FULL!) manure, is actually a big deal!

Remember last year when I said from then on I would only by Essie? Well I also said I probably would not be getting much nail polish. And I was totally right! This is my first bottle since 2011. I went for the Essie again. This color also happens to match every accessory in my room. Which proves I have a problem. And that problem is named Barbie Pink.

As far as my facial is concerned, it went okay. I used some facial thing Elise gave me. You plaster it on, then let it become plaster of sorts. After a while, you peel it off and (supposedly) have luscious and soft skin. That only happens if you can actually peel it off. And if you don't, friends will think your skin is peeling. Seriously, 3 days later I still had the stuff on.

Xoxo, Kryn

PS: You can read all my Summer List things here.

Happy {Fri} Day 7/13

Wow. I am totally repeating a photo from yesterday and totally hoping you don't notice and totally ruining that chance by pointing it out. But hey! I've never claimed to be the brightest. I think the biggest awesome thing about the week was my Photoshop messings. We've had it for over a year, and to be honest, I didn't even know how to save a photo. I did a little digging, a whole lot of moaning and finally figured out what I wanted! I'll show you Sunday. (It's really not that exciting, but I've been wanting to do it for a while.)

Oh, and I got to be a Starbucks girl today. Similar to this time, but it involved getting a drink, waiting for it, AND having your name written on the cup. I was totally impressed. I am also impressed by people who can curl their tongues and wear belts over cardigans and look good. And I say totally way to much.

How has YOUR week been going?

Xoxo, Kryn

Pizza saves!

Ironically, I put "Have FUN at band concert" on my July goals list and then totally had it ruined after being there for 5 minutes. The percussion teacher got after me for something I didn't do and it made me really mad. After we finished tooting our horns (and eating pizza), Emily and I (and Andy!) be-bopped on over to the lake (also known as a large pond) to harass the ducks. I mean admire their beauty from a distance. It totally made up for the lame start of the night. And now that I think about it, today was a pretty good day. Despite being accused of stepping on cymbals.

We also took some head shots in our fabulous (and matching!) brown shirts and khaki shorts. But I had some of that pizza in my braces. Needless to say, they are not great.

So friends and pizza. They saved my night.

Is it Friday?

This is the second week in a row where I've had 2 day breaks that make me think it's Friday.  I went to a lock in and though it was totally fun, it also totally messed up my internal clock. Which basically means I think every day is Friday which is also known as pajama day around here. Just like Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday and Sunday. I like my pajamas okay?

In other news, we have our band concert coming up! I'm super excited! I know, mom and dad will be reminding me how much I was complaining about it in the beginning, but I've come to like it. Seriously, why do these things always happen? How come  parents are always, always right?

How has your week been?

Love, Mystified.

Going to Jerusalem

Not really.

Theoretically. Hypothetically. Moving on.

I have a weird habit of naming my clothes. Shocker! Not every piece, but certain things just need names, and by George, I'll give 'em one. I had my circus shorts, my picnic dress, the sausage necklace and so on.

So let me introduce my Jerusalem Sandals....
They're perfect. They're comfy. They look biblical. Yeah, they are awesome. I loved them so much I didn't even want to take them off when I went to bed. I'm a dork like that. And really, I'm a dork like a lot of things.
And for the record, I don't wear this skirt every day of my life. Just most. And on those days, I always seem to take photo's. Flowy skirts are inspiring I guess.

Do you have names for certain outfits or pieces of clothing?

xoxo, Kryn

PS: No, this is not become a solely based clothing blog. I've just prepared these quick posts since I'm busy.

Criminals go to tea parties

I'll admit it. Mixing patterns in an outfit was very risky to me. I'm not very daring when it comes my wardrobe. Give me shorts, a cute top, a colorful belt and a cardigan and I'm happy for life. Until I see a cute dress, but never mind. So when I got a new skirt I knew I wanted to try pattern mixing.

First I did research. Yes, me! Thank you, but I am just fine. I will spend more than 2 seconds thinking about something....as long as clothes are involved.

So apparently some can be successful while mixing patterns.

And then I tried it.
All in all, I'd rate this okay. A little weird and funky. It kind of looks like a bunch of criminals broke out of jail and went to a tea party. Which is not really cool. At all. I think I'd be scared and run off and leave my tea to be all cold. (But I wouldn't leave a cupcake. No Sir.) I think the patterns should be a little more monochromatic and softer - the black lines are a little harsh.

So, I crossed of a goal. But I'm not totally sure it's an outfit I'd wear again.

How do you mix patterns?

Love, Kryn

PS: This crosses off another goal! huzzah!
