Kryn goes to college!

Kryn goes to college!
(and comes home two hours later)
Community college is pretty anti-clamantic, and very unlike the typical college experience. There is no rush week, no picture perfect dorm rooms with color coordinating trash cans, wall art and lofted bed storage. No football team, few clubs and idk, really no motivation either.

That being said, I still made a huge deal about which agenda I would use. Because it's tradition!
And by tradition I mean that it's a tradition for me to be as ridiculously un-practical as possible.

You'll see what I mean in a second...
This year there were two winners! But unlike last year, I decided to go ahead and keep them both. Logical? Practical? Resourceful? NEVER. But at least this year, we don't have to add unorganized to the list. I'm planned out to till December and man, I love it.

I'm using the Day Designer Agenda this year. It was sad to bid farewell to the saturated sunshine hues of the Lilly Pulitzer agendas, but HOURLY agenda in the Day Designer made the bittersweet break up a whole lot more sweet than bitter.
My favorite portion of this planner is the small G R A T I T U D E section. Theres a big enough space to write down a couple things, but generally I just jot down one great thing about every day. Sometimes it's a big thing, other days it's something simple like taking a good photo or not getting caught at every red light on the way to work. It's easy to think we have nothing to be grateful for but in reality, if I really listed everything, I could fill ten of those little boxes every day.
And so, another unorthodox school year is upon us. (old habits die hard?) I've got a good routine, I actually enjoy all of my classes and to top it off, my study buddy is really cute (even though she sits on top of my textbooks....while I'm reading them.)

May good grades and extra cups of coffee be ever in my favor!

(No thanks to you, Sophie.)

The Circle of Life.

It was only a matter of time before something like this would happen....

My dog is yet again my best friend (and most willing model.)

Grilled Cheese has been reinstated at the top of the food chain totem pole....

and Friday nights really ARE for Netflix again.

It's not really good or bad or sad or WIERD.  It's just life...

DARK AND MOODY MONDAY

For the first time in probably 3 seasons I decided to skip a volleyball practice. And by skip I mean, I had a fever and I didn't feel like downing a bottle of dayquill. Instead the puppies and I went out side (something we used to do quite often) and I blessed the neighbors with music - both of my shutter clicking and my ukulele plucking.

I wasn't planning on going all black and white and moody with these photos but then again , Matthew Crawley just DIED. He's DEAD.

On second thought, black and white forever.

PS: Alternate ending; "Help I've fallen into Downton Abbey and I can't get up." Either works.
PPS: This song only increases the mood.
PPSS: Let's buy mood rings while we're at it! Though everyone I've ever had seems to get stuck on romantic...I can't imagine why!

A girl and an iPhone....

...and way too much time on her hands. On a side note, my room really emits a very cozy pink vibe, Which I will always be in favor of because the more pink, the merrier!

And a happy Friday to you!

Awkward Updates.

This post is a prime example of the "type and erase" game. It's something I do generally all the time, but this post has been the worst! I seriously have re-written absolutely nothing of substance about 100 different ways, all without success. I couldn't decided what to talk about and then I couldn't choose a photo and it really went downhill from there.

That being said, here are the deets! Do what you want with them...

-"The only reason you go to Paris is to post photo on instagram and make everyone jealous."

- Texting Emily.. "So I'm having a problem! When I say IDK, it's to casual! But when I say 'I don't know', it's too fancy". Thankfully, Em's got my back: "Just say, IHNYATK (I have not yet acquired that knowledge.)" Perfect middle ground, if you ask me.

-" With a little editing, you'll look great!" - said whilst taking Emily's photos.

- Watching a movie with Emily and turning to one another AT THE EXACT SAME TIME and saying how good of a movie it was. It was actually scary.

-Someday we are going to film our tennis lessons because we would be youtube sensations for sure! Our only disclaimer would be that you laugh with us, not at us. Because otherwise we might be worried that you didn't like our kung fo moves mid game!

-"these lipsticks are on the same wavelength."

-talking to myself and saying, "well, if I were you I would..."

-seeing the clock at 10:10, 11:11 and 12:12 in one night. I was feeling very proud.

(all quotes by me, thank you very much, unless otherwise noted. Just to clarify, I don't want to make someone else look stupid for no reason!)

Pizza on Earth, Goodwill towards men!

Does posting on Christmas mean that I really don't have a life? Either way, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you had a magical day doing everything Christmasy, including celebrating JESUS. Some days I can't even believe how incredible the story is and all he has done for us. It's just so amazing.

The candle light service is always good (um, glow sticks, but whatevs.) A lot of crying babies and shuffling papers but a lot more people coming to know the Lord! We sang Love Came Down and even though I've heard it a ton, I've never really thought about it (typical for me. I'm trying!)

Because of Christmas, we are free! Isn't that just the most beautiful thing? Free and saved and wrapped in Grace. THAT is what Christmas is all about...

Aaaaannnnd puppies in holiday dresses! Of course!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight! I'm off to go dream of sugarplums or bacon. One of the two. Cheers!

HI, LET ME BABBLE.

I've been meaning to write this post for probably thirty minutes, but I keep getting interrupted by the urge to listen to 80's music. And when the 80's call, you answer! 80's aside (and let's not forget this gem!) These are a few selfies from the first day of school! Well, if you want to get technical these are from the first day before the first day of school - details details! And the moral of the story is that if you wear the same outfit 2 days in a row, don't tell anyone. Except the Internet in my case. I always trust the NSA with my most devious secrets. Don't you!?

And on a side note, we have our first varsity volleyball game today which gives me mixed feelings of excitement and puke. But! I have noticed that when I am nervous I tend to get the blogging urge, if you know what I mean (which you probably don't, so anyway), and so I will probably whip out about 50 posts in 12 seconds. Yay for efficiency, I guess!

And before my death or I mean, I leave for Volleyball, let me leave you with some links because exploring the internet is fun!

▲▲ this shirt, OHMYGRACIOUS SOMEONE BUY IT FOR ME, THANKS.

▲▲ Scarlet peonies, I didn't even know such magic existed.

▲▲ of course, you internet know-it-all's know this is old news, but its a really interesting video!

▲▲ the styling in these photos are fab!

▲▲ my mom was looking for volleyball warm up songs and found this (and the greatest wedding processional of all time, for that matter!) read the comments, they are hilarious!

Having nothing to say but saying quite a lot anyhow...

Guys, this is kinda odd.

I really have NOTHING to say!

I mean, I could talk about how lazy I've been today or how sluggish the weather is. I could blab about how disgusting I look....not to mention the fact that my shirt has been backwards all day. Oh, and then there's the fact that I bought a head scarf and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Some heads for made for scarves, Some not. The blunt truth my friends. I have a feeling my head will air on the not side of the issue, but I'm too nervous to try it on. And being nervous like that results in an informal staring contest with that dang headscarf wondering "Should i?"

Please, say no. I don't want want to feel inferior. Why is your head more headscarf worthy than mine?? Where did I go wrong? My poor, poor shaped cranium...rest in peace, beloved headscarf.

And since when did this post get all sad? And since when did I have something to say?

Two things about this: I did not use spell check, computer or brain version, I am sorta sorry if I spelled everything wrong. I'm also not sorry, because I was way to lazy to use either version. Thing two: Excuse the hideous gray. That I am sorry for, because I miss pink!

On another note, I tried on the headscarf. Let's just say my hypothesis was right. My head sorta looked like an eggplant.

Eggplant brain, over and out!

PS: Sophie wanted me to tell you, she really loves her new headscarf. her cranium is now fully in style.

TA DA! It's summer!

I gotta say, I'm pretty in love with this summer. It's been a whole lot of nothing which in summer speak equals a whole lotta AWESOME! Like, you know the days are good when you find yourself watching seven Disney channel shows in one sitting...heart melts! Some days i try and pretend all refined (by the way, I don't do so hot at it) and the some days I'm totally fine with the fact that I'm cackling at this video and choreographing water ballets. Within the same hour!

BTW, I'm a rockstar underwater ballerina. Pirouettes like you've never seen before!

funnies...if you can call them that...

-using the words couture and inner tube in the same sentence. Next' it'll be avant-garde seat cushions or something.

-finding a piece of bacon in my purse (???) and getting really excited that I had found a piece of petrified wood.

-Trying to convince KJ to take shorter showers, "People who take long showers have bad character!" Not my finest argument.

-an add for tomato sauce that described it as sassy. Somehow, when I think of tomato sauce, sassy isn't the first word that comes to mind.

-spending a very long time deliberating over which side of the cheese grater to use. Big hunky shavings for a more manly sandwich or itty bitty gratings for extra elegance and class? Decisions, Decisions. in the end, itty bitty cheese won! Such a classy grilled cheese, you go girl!

-crying because I woke up at 10. And I do not mean a little sniffle...I mean ALLIGATOR tears. In my defense I was....never mind.

Ta ta for now...off to do some arabesques, or something equally enchanting! Have a happy day, and eat some popsicles. Because...you should!

Hi and mini-goodbye

Hi. Hello....Oh wait, BONJOUR.

I guess we bloggers periodically fall off the face of the earth. We're just so outta this world! But I really wanted to pop in and say that I might not be blogging much lately. It has become clear that I need to devote more time and focus to other areas of my life instead of  blogging. Though, I do love it so, so, so much....but then again, less is more? Quality over Quantity? Absence makes the heart grow fonder? I'll try my hand at it.

I would tell you that you could follow me on instagram to keep up with my adventures,
but I don't care for instagram so that one is out of the question. I think we'll just send smoke signals instead.

Effective communication is my thang.*

*read in dorky teenager/teeny-boper / wannabee it girl voice. thanks

It's a good day to be alive.

Yesterday was a generally nice day to be alive. Not alive as in living and breathing but alive as in actually having a life other than yoga pants and pinterest.

I digress.

Our day involved going deep into nature, walking the pups, watching people work and not participating (unfortunately,  I enjoyed that), eating ruffles and macaroons and coming home to eat more bread and cheese and watch good TV. Pretty presh, no?

Unfortunately, our lovely day ended on a sour note. I have this odd/unfortunate habit of  mindlessly picking my eyebrows. We were watching monk and behold, my left eyebrow vanished. Really, it did. But I guess if you have to ruin a very nice day, an elusive eyebrow is the way to do  it.

How has your weekend been?

I ramble.

We all have those weeks when we are VERY busy (in my case with self imposed stress.) Our room looks like a category 5 hurricane blew through, multiple times perhaps, and our hair/outfits don't  exactly deny it.

WELCOME TO MY WORLD.

I really feel like there could be a song with that as lyrics. Thoughts? If not, it might be time to bring back my song writing career.

Oh, and I should have mentioned that "THOSE weeks" often come with side effects of switching subjects at embarrassing rates and never being able to remember what you were talking about approximately 2.3 seconds before.

Moving on.....

- being VERY sweaty while running and passing a mailbox with dew on it and thinking,  "Even the mailbox is sweaty!!!!"

-singing to someone about chubby (Sophie) and them thinking I was talking about them.

- crying in the car and simultaneously praising my mascara for not running, only to walk in and find myself a vampire.

-  trying to paint this, and instead painting a very disproportionate clown with wings.

- my attempts at spelling disproportionate. Very unsettling.

I know there is probably 50 majillion other things I've done that deserve a round of awkward applause, but for now I can't remember any....I told you it was bad.

How has YOUR week been?

THIS close

Sophie's personal space ranges from no where in sight to right in your face. And nowhere in between. So I guess if you don't mind having a dog sitting on your face or somewhere equally awkward, Sophie and you could be BFF's.

Just as long of you give lots of massages and treats. And maybe I'll just tag along...?

The day the tree came down

I don't know why, but I got SUPER sentimental with our tree this year. Maybe because it was our first tree that was like "I'M NO WUSS" or something, or maybe because I got to pick out the ornaments. And they looked like gumdrops. Ooomph.

I'm just trying to say that I hugged our tree so many times that it's actually quite embarrassing.

Anyway, I took a bunch of photos while we took down the tree. I think it was to distract me from crying and getting all sentimental. Who knows - next I'll make a photo album with these pictures and print a bunch and put them in my wallet. "Here's my dog, and, my Christmas tree!!" Another distraction would be that I edited the living daylights out of these suckers. I was an emotional wreck - what else could I have done?

And after we finished we went and watched Toddlers and Tiaras and all was right with the world.

(That is, until Honey Boo-Boo came on.)

Happy Day

From the Sophster and I,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hope you all have an amazing day. See ya in a few!
XOXO, Elfity Elf.

We photobomb

I'm not sure what I was taking pictures of, but whatever it was, Soph thought she was WAY more important. She photobombs all the time...

Speaking of photobombing, while we were ice skating, I did some myself. Sorry proud parents, yes, Jill and Joe are amazing at ice skating, but who's that dork doing pirouettes in the background? Just think of all the coffee table photo albums I'll be gracing. I'm famous!
