Orlando City Irony

Three weeks ago I went to an Orlando City Game. Also three weeks ago, I lost my credit card. Today I uploaded all these photos for this blog post. Also today, I got a text saying, "HAHAHAH OH MY GOSH I STILL HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD FROM THE GAME."

So that's where it went!

Moral of the story, if you're going to and Orlando City Soccer game, don't give a boy your credit card because he might forget to give it back. It will save you a lot of time and energy (and tears, because misplaced valuables generally result in a mini meltdown) and the hassle of having to order a new one, only to get it in the mail the exact same day you find out it isn't really lost at all.

Alternate moral: life is full of ironic timing. I'm pretty sure we have Jesus to thank for that one.

INLET....IN-LIT?

Ah, the inlet! Ironically enough, I've never blogged about it. Which is kind of shocking considering I've blogged about everything from broken bones to what I eat for lunch, but somehow a post about the inlet never made the cut.

(Or, I was too lazy to make one. Probably that!)

We normally go at least once a year, and this year was great! Until I got home. Because then I looked in the mirror and remembered that I hadn't worn any sunscreen.

And I had been in full sun. For eight hours.

Needless to say, I looked like a tomato for a good week or so and it's not a look I would recommend to anyone.

I can't really put into words how much I treasure this little group of friends. One reason it's probably difficult is because they actually make fun of me, a lot. But once I learned to let it roll off my back and see beyond their rough edges, I actually have so much fun. It's not often you find people who you feel 100% comfortable to be 100% yourself with, but I'm thankful I have. We raced hermit crabs, and talked about life, love and Drake while exploring the surrounding islands. And even though I ended up looking like a tomato, it was worth it.

(ish. It definitely wont be worth it if I end up with skin cancer.)

So we made a human gradient and I happened to be tanner than my CUBAN friend, which is the greatest honor anyone could bestow upon me! Not really sure where this honor will take me in life, but you can bet I'm going to have it on my resume.

And we ended the night with a walk around the island and then talking in the driveway till midnight.

Summer nights man, they're something else.

Back to chocolate and hair history

I honestly never thought I would be the girl who always colors her hair. To me, there was no point, Why would you change your hair? But then one day I came to the conclusion that also, why not? It's fun, not permanent and way less harmful to your body than a tattoo or piercings.

My bank account will forever regret me coming to that conclusion!

And in honor of a new hair color and cleaning out my computer, I thought this post seemed highly appropriate. My favorite walks are always down one memory lane (mostly because they involve a lot of awkward photos, which this post happens to be full of!) so let's dive right in.

Palm trees and Pink houses

I've mentioned it before (like, at least ten thousand times) but Pink is my color. Peanut butter has Jelly, coffee has creamer, Jim has pam, and I have pink. The first house we lived in after moving to Florida was pink, and that really set the tone (literally) for rest of my life.

A few years later and a few miles down the beach line, I now live in a town where the town hall is pink. My next door neighbors house is hot pink (and I wrote about it here) and my favorite coffee shop? No surprise that it's a charming shade of cherry blossom pink as well.

In the next couple months I'll be moving across the country to a state that is a little lacking in the pink house department. But for now, I'm savoring every moment here where there are palm trees and pink houses galore.

PS: My dress is from Dillards. Honestly, I didn't even know people under 40 even shopped at Dillards. But this dress made me rethink everything, I love it so much.

WINTER PARK AT TWILIGHT

Mom and I have been making nearly weekly trips to Winter Park for almost a year now. It's easily my favorite day of the week, our sacred sabbath of a Thursday amidst the business and stress of life. No matter how bad things can get, the pressing matters at home don't seem quite so imperative in Winter Park. Probably because we distract ourselves with Trader Joe's and coffee shops, but you know!

Normally we always go around noon and it's so bright and hot that we end up heading home. Not this day! We were determined (and by we, I mostly mean me.) to stick it out until sunset and see Winter Park in all it's sun drenched glory. And it was worth it for sure. Winter Park is beautiful every day but it's even more peaceful and tranquil at twilight.

YOU ARE THE JOY FOR ME

If you take anything away from this post I hope it's this:
God does answer our prayers.

They don't return void. He hears each prayer, whether mumbled, written or said over a delicious meal. He hears. He cares. And He loves us enough to answer them. Not because we are good or worthy, but because HE is good.

You may recognize Torrey from previous posts. We've been friends for a couple years (and known one another for over ten years.) The extent of our friendship was usually a couple cat memes and grabbing coffee every few months or so. Other than that, our paths didn't cross too much.
But the Lord had a different plan, because (seemingly) out of nowhere our friendship grew in leaps and bounds, just when I needed it most. One day we were friends who saw one another a couple times a year, the next day she's at my house every Monday night like it had been that way since the dawn of time.

There are a million things to love about Torrey. She's incredibly real, down to earth and not pretentious in the least. She listens, encourages and didn't complain when I described the life cycle of a cell in great detail...multiple times. We sat on my couch and shared our hearts, what the Lord is doing in us and through us. His presence was there and I have Him to thank for bringing me such a sweet, faithful friend.

Torrey is heading off to camp for the summer, as she always does. This year though, it's especially bittersweet (tbh mostly bitter for me lol) because she's getting back less than 2 weeks before I leave for college. Gone are the monday nights, the random diet coke dates and the tanning times.

I know it doesn't count for much in life but Torrey, I love you a lot. Thank you for being open to where the Lord is leading and for allowing Him to bless me through you. You're a gift, a gem and I'll always be your man.

(don't worry mom, it's just a song lyric!)

PS: Some of our favorite things?
Opera's bread video
Large Diet Cokes from McDonalds (at any time of day) (and only $1.07)
Stress in foot form
LANY
and Rachels forehead.

MYSTERY OF THE MISSING WARDROBE

The goal of dressing like Nancy Drew has been going well. Solving the mystery of where my money goes though, still on the hunt for clues.

(funny how clue rhymes with J.Crew.)

CHARMING CHARLESTON

Charleston has been on my list for so long! But even longer than that was my list of things to do in Charleston...which ironically we did not cross anything off of it. I guess that just means we will have to go back?

I think that sounds about right!
And if you want to know the real reason I didn't cross much off the list, i'll tell you if you promise not to turn me in. My all time favorite fashion blogger just moved to Charleston. I don't really read any blogs anymore, except Gal Meets Glam. I read it literally just as religiously as I do my bible, and I have everyday for the past 4 years. I practically grew up with Julia! (we are on a first name basis, she just doesn't know it yet.)

Anyway, my mom and I are really good at finding things (of little importance) and we found Julias house, which happens to be on a historic homes walking tour so it actually isn't hard to find. So we parked a couple blocks away and walked by and JULIA. WAS. ON. THE. PORCH. Taking blog photos no less! My 12 year old heart died and went to heaven and so did my 19 year old heart as well.

I didn't take any photos or try and talk to them because, despite what this post suggests, I am not a creepy stalker. I'm just a deeply connected to Julia and her wardrobe and her penchant for pretty dresses. And now, I've seen her in person! Between Julia and tripping on Jen Gotch, I think I can die happily now.

Or at least not have a panic attack overtime I see someone who I follow on instagram IRL?
Hopefully our next trip to Charleston will involve actually crossing things off the to-do/see list but for now, I'm fairly content with everything that happened. And in case you were curious, Julia lives in a pink house.

No wonder I love her.

Such is life, Such is FRE2

I really should be studying for my French 2 final right now...but instead I'm posting about the Paris Market in Savanah! That's the same thing right? And since we are here and I'm avoiding my homework like the plague, let's chat about French 2. Grab yourself a café au lait, we might be here awhile.

I've wanted to take French since the dawn of time (or really, ever since my mom started saying  Ne touchez pas to us when we were kids.) French 1 was fine and dandy and FRE2 has been anything but that. Which honestly, isn't a huge deal. A perfect grade isn't necessary for my degree and at the end of the day, its fine.

But at the same time, it's not. Because eight year old Kryn wanted to learn French, just like her mom. And twelve year old Kryn was obsessed with everything Parisian. When sixteen year old Kryn went to Paris, it was if the stars had truly aligned. And when seventeen year old Kryn lived in Paris for a month (!!!), French felt like my destiny.

So you can imagine that when I'm sitting in room 220 at the community college and confusing the passĂ© compose conjugations of etre, it feels like I'm letting each of them down just a little bit.

But you know what they say,  "c'est la vie" (and FRE2)
Isn't this place just the cutest? And while it didn't inspire me to study my verbs or vocabulary list, it did remind me why I love Paris, and France and French food in general. Even though FRE2 wasn't exactly the whimsical experience I had envisioned since I was a little girl, it's been a good learning experience.

And if I ever go back to France one day, at least I'll know how to ask where the bathrooms are. It's the important stuff kids.

While our trip to the Paris Market might have been more successful than my midterm, I still have hope that a.) I'll pass b.) I'll go back to France and actually use said French one day and 3.) that someone will invent gluten free croissants.

But in the mean time, back to the flash cards I go.
Like I said before,
C'EST LA VIE.

(PARIS POSTS ANYONE? First time at Laduree. Proof that the Paris Market is legit. Day at Versailles and the First day of Summer in Paris.)
