In which we pick pumpkins!

An awkward photo! But what else would one expect?

So the other day, yesterday actually, we went pumpkin picking! At first we set out on our bikes ready to ride the "patch" in quotation marks because it was publix. We city folk can't be picky! But low and behold, we apparently have a pumpkin patch, A REAL ONE, less than a mile from our house! Which was helpful in the end because riding with a 10 lb pumpkin in your bike basket is risky business.

What can I say, I like to live on the wild side! Having a pumpkin in your bike basket is practially the definition of risk.

▲▲ Is there something about wearing plaid whilst pumpkin picking? There must be some unofficial rule that when ever one does anything fallish they wear plaid. On the hunt for a plaid shirt, starting now.

▲▲And here's punkin' transportation, island style!

On a final note, we are doing great with Holidays! We had a Christmas tree last year, WE DECORATED IT (major score!), we went outside for fourth of july and now I have a pumpkin! (named penny!) This is our greatest streak and maybe we'll make homemade stuffing for Thanksgiving! Clearly, we are on a roll.

XOXO and cheers to pumpkins and patches and all things fall!

Humor me, it's a bloggy birthday!

Hi blog, happy Anniversary! Although, I didn't know you were married!?

Seriously, why do we call it anniversary anyway? Did I unknowingly marry my blog the day I started it? Does that somehow make my blog...A BOY! Eeek, this is getting awkward!

So anyway, 3 summers ago I started my happy-go-dorky little blog and I love it to bacon bits and pieces. I've shared an obnoxious amounts of typos and embarrassing stories and somehow have managed to wrangle a reader or two to comment some. (thank you for sacrificing your sanity! I promise, I won't tell your friends!)

And I also promise that while I appear to not take things to seriously here on the blog, I do in real life.

Except when Justin Bieber songs come on. Then I just have to dance.

(and maple leaf rag! I was totally jigging in lego land once...and my thighs were jiggLING too! They know what's up!)

Although three years is mere and tiny, it seems ginormous to me, so since I like to give advice...three blogging tips for you for three equally odd blogging years from me!

BLOG BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT.
I used to try and do certain things because I thought people would think I was cooler. Now, I've totally given up on that. (Although, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try a l-i-t-t-l-e?) I find that I get more frustrated with myself and blogging and stuff in general when I'm worried about how many comments or yada yada. The biggest joy I get from blogging is going through my posts, so I totally base my posting on that. It's made it change a little, but in the end it's better to go with your blog gut.

Blogs are getting more human by the minute. What is this, cyber Star Trek?

I don't think that related at all.

INSPIRATION DOES NOT FALL FROM THE SKY
And what is inspiration anyway? A person, a photo, a feeling? If you do want to blog, YOU are going to have to blog. And not be so heavily inspired by someone that it's not really you anymore. Inspiration is like a snowball, once it starts, it keeps getting bigger and bigger. So take it in stride and spend time coming up with posts, ideas and so on. They won't fall from the sky.

FIND YOUR STYLE
I seriously think I spent the first 2 years of blogging finding my style, and I've only recently found it and began to hone in on it. If you haven't figured out your groove yet, you will. Just give it time and keep plugging along - even when it's rough!

Oh, and what's this? A bonus tip!

DANCE AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.
Especially to cheesy music.

But really, what would this blog be without you? NOTHING! So thank you for reading and commenting and making my day, like, all the time. You are the bestest of the cat's pajamas. Maybe even footie pajamas.

Mucho love to you and another fab year of blogging, however many typos that may entail!

Happy Day

From the Sophster and I,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Smarty Pants

This has nothing to do with the content of this post.
Well here I am 7 days late adding the celebrations - be sure and check them out. I am having issues now because I've already celebrated all the good holiday's from June last year. All the extra ones are not so awesome. I've got to figure out how to make them awesome. (And yes, I do happen to know there are more than 20 days in June. I'm just not finished gathering the celebrations yet.)

Its VCR Day! How cool is that?!? Well honestly, not very. I mean, who even uses one now days? The only things people use them for is to watch embarrassing home videos. I have several home video's of myself I'm glad we misplaced.  When I was little, I used to dress up in pajamas and I called myself "Miss Smartypants." I would sing and dance and have conversations with my enormous stuffed bunny, Rufus. I think one time Rufus and I were dancing but Rufus was a little clumsy and made me fall over and hit a chair. Rufus is not the most graceful fellow one could dance with.

Maybe in honor of VCR day I should don my flannel stripped pajama pants and dust of Rufus for one final chat. I'm feeling a bit sentimental...sniff.

Love,
Miss Smarty Pants

PS: I'm not sure if I was impressed with my pants, thus the name Miss SmartyPants. I will never understand my younger self. Correction: I will never understand myself.

PPS: Crossed off another goal - who's awesome!?

Donuts.

I found out today that National Donut day is, actually celebrated! Most celebrations are sadly overlooked - but who could overlook doughnuts?! Dunkin' and Krispy were getting their celebration (and free doughnut) on. Today after our rock climbing (Which thankfully went better than my diving attempts!) we headed into unknown territory: doughnut land.

I for one love just about anything sweet. My family, not so much. Dad and Kj prefer steak any day to a doughnut. But we actually went and got doughnuts! It was pretty miraculous. We went to Dunkin' doughnuts...with my dad...which is a pretty big deal. My dad sort of unfairly hates it due to people messing up traffic trying to rush for their morning supply of coffee and doughnuts. But we braved it. I got a chocolate little lovely covered in sprinkle stars. I always forget it, but I love doughnuts. With all of my heart. Although it might seem pathetic to forget something you love.

On a side note (although this whole blog is kind of side note) when I was little and we would play LIFE, I would always be the policeman because they had doughnuts. Isn't that the most important part after all?

Sincerely,
My donut was a Chocolate Einstein.

Ps: donut or doughnut? I guess it is donut. I admit doughnut defeat.

PPS: I am still having good Friday's. In fact, no picture, but here are the good things

dairy free milk // new piano // cake pops in the park// stripes and floral // getting good workouts // mail days //  almost ready blog design // online exploring

They do look a little less glamorous without a picture don't they? That is, if they ever were glamorous. What are some good things that happened to you this week? XOXO!

Construction Site

I know at the moment my blog looks like...well, not much actually. But I'm in the process of re-doing it, and I am super excited. But for a little while it might look less than exciting, which I am okay with, and I hope you are too.

I'm not gonna blab much about sunscreen. I mean, there's not really much to talk about other than its oily and smelly and I hardly ever use it. But I find it ironic that today, on sunscreen day, it's raining. It's pouring. (And my dad is napping therefore there might be snoring, although I haven't checked.)

Kind of a pathetic day as far as celebrations go, huh? I think the weather does not enjoy celebrating. Stingy thing.

So back to my main point, please excuse the pure boringness of the blog until I finish designing it. Thanks!
XOXO, Kryn

PS: I enjoy making up words. I hope you enjoy figuring them out.

On being Jazzed

Okay, You may have noticed. I have not been super enthused with this blog of late. It seems more like a job. (Sounds painful right?) But I promise you, I will do better. Even if no one comments and only my grandma reads it (by the way thank you!)  I will carry on (Name that song!) (Well, name what song that's in.) I kind of go in blog phases. I love it, then like it, and well, then hate it! I am also working on getting a PERSONAL design, something Ive been wanting for ages (2 weeks.)

So Jazz day? Music? No. Jazz? Of course! Here is what I am jazzed about: living with in bike riding distance of Starbucks. Honestly, its fairly awesome. Mom and I embarked on our biking trip to grab cake pops at 6:30. We returned at 9:45. We spent 30 seconds at the park enjoying our cake pops (see above) and not enjoying being eaten alive by mosquito. So we crashed a friends movie, isn't that just the friendliest and jazziest thing one could do? It was the Karate kid. It wasn't totally my type, but I'm not sure 5 boys would enjoy watching Emma....(although they should!)

I also had a dream about Jazz. Last night, but technically today. I'm always technical. Or not... Are clarinets used in Jazz bands? Anyway, I dreamed I was in a band and we were all supposed to have our clarinets. But mom forgot to buy mine so when the teacher called us, I was less than jazzed that I had no clarinet. I asked mom what I was supposed to do and she goes "Just play the air clarinet!" Okay? So I rocked the air clarinet for all of 30 seconds before Sophie practiced her morning ritual of sniffing my face.

There you go. I hope you got jazzed up because, huzzah, I actually posted!

Sincerely,
All Jazzed up.

PS: That's a picture of my cake pop. I didn't want you to confuse it with anything else. Thanks. Goodbye.

You Will be missed

Today is the day we mourn all the brave sock souls who gave their final hurrah yesterday. To the socks under the sofa, behind the dryer, deep in places we would never expect - we miss you. We wish you would re-appear so you could don our feet and we could be sockful again.

That being said, socks do not belong on my feet. It is nearly impossible to keep them on my feet for that matter too. I like fuzzy, pink long socks. But I don't like little sports socks. They got lost in the depths of my room WAY to easy.  I honestly can't imagine all the places they hide. With my luck they are probably all neatly folded in my drawer, but who looks in obvious places? Now that I think about it, socks are spiteful beings. They despise feet, of course because then they get stinky and smelly. Eww.

On a better note, my bowling scores have improved! I'm hoping baby bowling is a thing of the past and that soon I will become an amazing bowler. Or I'd be happy with an 80, but I'll take whichever comes first. Also, I'm in full summer mode. I woke up yesterday thinking it was Saturday. And then today I thought it was Thursday. I hope my metal calender adjusts soon or I might be persuaded that I am skewed.

Here's to faulty calenders, being sad for the socks and better bowling!

Sincerely,
Tomorrow is Sunday!

Obscure Location

Right now I'm somewhere totally different that where I usually blog. Wait for it....I'm at the kitchen counter! Woah. I know its crazy. Yes, I'm feeling okay.

Lets get on with it. Its national Tourist day! I actually thought today was tomorrow, and tomorrow is No Socks day so I was prepping (and being sock less) for that. But I'm ahead of the times, as always and now I've got to go on about being touristy. Thankfully I'm a pretty good national tourist. I am hoping this year we can take a North Eastern trip and cover all the states I've missed. I've been to mount Rushmore, the Alamo, Chicago, seen Mexico, The golden gate bridge, DC and I've been to 38 states total. But what I really want is to be a worldwide traveler. I want to see the Eiffel tower and the Louvre and Big Ben. I also wouldn't mind hanging out at a cute little French Bakery and gorging myself on croissants. But that might come later.

Thanks and goodbye. The kitchen counter has been good to me, but I'm finished now.

Sincerely,
Or I could just go to NYC.....(mother!)

Get your fiesta on

It's only appropriate that today we use as many Spanish words as possible. After all, its Cinco De Mayo! Which first makes me think of Mexicans in sombreros shaking maracas and then makes me think of mayonnaise. Scratch that. It makes me think of mayonesa. I'm just trying to be authentic here people. My favorite color is rosa. I ate too much pastel today. And pastel is not chips and salsa. I would have said so because there is no use making chips and salsa fancy. It is just chips and salsa. It does not need to be jazzed up. No need to say you're having crisped tortilla pieces with spicy tomato brucheta dip.

I didn't do anything ferociously Mexican today because I was busy being amazing, being award awards and getting incredibly nervous in front of lots of people. But don't Mexicans get nervous...I mean nervioso? I think so. I'm just being a true Mexican then. I also love how I use being amazing and getting nervous in the same sentence. They don't totally go together.

One more thing about Mexican people: First of all, if you are a Mexican, you live in Mexico. If you lived in Mexico but live here now you are an American. You may have a great heritage or whatever, but you left it behind. Now you are American and there are no special benefits and you don't get catered too. Where's the bonus for 5th generation white American women? It doesn't work that way. If you live here, you are an American and you should be proud of it. End of Story.

Second: Mexicans, keep the accent to your self. Do we really need to hear "tortilla" like "tortiLLLLia"? Nope. Same goes for you Italians. Yes Giada. That's you I'm talking too.

That's all I have to say about todays celebración. I got out my little rant about Mexican-Americans which ALWAYS bothers me. I don't really know why, but it really does. As I have really said....realmente.
HAPPY CINO DE MAYO!

Sincerley,

Me gustan los elefantes de color rosa.

PS: Si usted está leyendo esto, usted engañado.

PPS: The whole reason I sat down to write this post was to tell you I've updated my goals. There are way more. But at the time my memory was failing me. But now everything is up and here's the link for you to go look. Wish me luck on this months endeavors....Muchas gracias!

May the 4th

Happy Star Wars day! Today is the celebration for our inner Star Wars nerd.... And don't be modest, you know you are one! I have a funny story about star wars day (and it may or may not be another blond moment.) 2 or 3 years ago, I learned about Star Wars Day. I was at some nature thing with a bunch of other homeschoolers. I was wearing a hoodie. Gasp. Anyway, fashion faux-pas aside, someone mentioned that it was on May 4th and then said "may the 4th be with you." But then (cue hair color change) I said, "well, they really could have done it on any other day, it just had to be on the 4th." and everyone stopped scooping their pond scum long enough to give me big blank stares. I tried to reinforce my statement by saying it could have been in June (yes, I did say, June the 4th be with you if you were wondering.)

About 1 minute later I realized what a dork I was (am).

You are so glad I've grown out of all this right? Me too.

My favorite movies? Revenge of the sith and Return of the Jedi. Return of the Jedi because I have great summer memories of watching it 8 billion times with good friends. Oh and I do totally love the earth Vadar song and I always skip back and watch the parts with the song over and over again. And then, Revenge of the sith. Spell check says it should be revenge of the sigh, but for once I'm right. I first watched it in 2010 with broke. Watching anything with Brooke makes you love it. Except Icarly, but that's another story. So we are watching it and we get to the part where Anakin Is burning up and right as his hair lights on fire Brooke goes "oh, there goes all his luscious hair!" now whenever anyone Jenkins Anakin, I always think of his wavy soft luscious hair. I can't help it. It was so funny.

I should talk about Yoda (or actually, talk about Yoda, I should.) but we know all about him. My favorite Jedi is Mace windu. (seriously, his light saber is purple.) and I was totally shouting at the sigh sith when he was thrown out the window to his metropolitan grave. I almost cried. And I absolutely hated that lousy sith after that. And that's a wrap.

Sincerely,
"Luke....*slurp*....I am your father."*

*said by me when I had an incredible amount of spit in my mouth.

Baby Bowling

At first, I deemed my baby day a failure and was going to substitute it. But the more I though about it the more I realized how babyish my day was. Of course, there are two parts to baby day. If it was 2003, Justin Bieber's Baby song would not even be considered an option for celebrating. Especially since it had not even been written. But now you think JB when you hear the word baby. Or at least I do. And probably every other teenage girl thinks the same thing.

So I went bowling today. Cue the singing, dancing in the lanes and of course JB and we are in babyland.  Of course, our bowling alley is a little less glamorous. First of all, you can actually see the lanes and second of all you actually bowl and not dance and sin about how your first love broke your heart for the first time. But other than those minor details, the tropical Suburbia bowling alley and Babyland are pretty much identical twins. (I'm so punny.)

And then, I bowled like a baby. I complete and utter baby. And baby's who are reading this, I'm sorry. I must join your blankie loving clan because I can't bowl to save my 2 year old life. I think I got 38 one game and 23 the next. Oh just kidding, I meant 138 and 123. I wish. If I'd been in the Babyland bowling alley and been dancing and wearing high tops, I'd probably actually have gotten 138 for reals. But in tropical Suburbia, I was a baby with my bowling.

I think next time I go bowling, I'll go on adult day. Or better yet, Senior day. I'd for sure be a rock star and maybe beat my high score. Of 38.

Sincerely,
I'll always be a baby bowler

Observations at the dentist office

Today I had to go to the dentist. Not exactly the most exciting way to spend your Monday, but It had to be done. And honestly (Oh man, am I celebrating or what?) I don't like dentists, offices or anything that goes on inside there. There's way to much pain and not enough fun. And stuffy assistants? No Thanks.

First of all, there's the issue of personal space. Dentist have a way of getting in your personal space bubble. They lay machines on your chest and stick hands in your mouth and basically ruin the experience that was never meant to be enjoyed. They tilt you back so far you are positive your are going to fall into a big head over heels heap at their feet. Then they stick a light an inch from your face and talk.....like it's no biggie.

Then, the gloves. Have you noticed how smelly those are? They smell badly of plastic latex with a little powder-ish stuff mixed in. And then they go about 1 inch from your nose. And with nothing to do other than count sheep or look up your dentists nose, you have to resign to the gloves. The stinky gloves. I once went to a dentist who had scented gloves. OH MY. They were amazing. They were grapey and goodey and smelled just like kids medicine. (By the way, that's a good thing.)

And finally (although I could go on) speaking to your hygienist. I never understand which degree of conversation I should go for. Are we swapping stories like lifelong friends, or should we be exchanging civil pleasantries like newly introduced people? Should we be talking about the weather, my schooling habits, your kids who's pictures are plastered all over? People who fluently speak hygienist amaze me. I kind of wish I could learn that language, but on the other hand, I don't go to the dentist enough to put it to good use. I should just learn French. That's way more practical.

Thank you for listening. Thank you for understanding my pain. Thank you for going through this with me.

Getting your teeth cleaned can be a very hard thing to go through alone. I'm so glad you are here.

Sincerely,
And I came home and read about barbies....

CATCHING FLIES.

Zippers are essential to life and pants. Without them, we would be seeing way to much of London and France and it would not be pleasant. But, unfortunately, I may or may not unintentionally give random citizens a view of my London and France simply because I forgot to zip my pants. (As we just learned, I forget some essential things!)  Now, I'm not an idiot (although you may wonder) But if my pants have other contraptions up top, like the double clip thing or a button inside, they're the ones to blame. I get so busy working on those guys I forget my trusty zipper has been left naked and unzipped. To Much info? Moving on...

I now share a rest stop story. For those of you that don't travel by car cross country, rest stops are exciting places. People who have been sitting in a car for 8 hours straight, stand up, and become alive. They sometimes do abnormal things. Things get weird in the car for that long, and eventually, you've just gotta let it out. So anyway, here I am in Kansas. I walked out of the bathroom, and there are 2 men sitting on a bench by the sidewalk. At first, they seem normal. But not so. They were a typical case of Rest Stop Weirdos. So I walk by and they start belting "SHE'LL BE CATCHING FLIES.....SHE'LL BE CATCHING FLIES." I was officially creeped out, so I retreated to the car. When I told Mom and Dad, they both started laughing and told me to check my zipper. Sure enough, it was open. Not only had I once again left my zipper open, but had walked past everyone at the rest stop AND had grown men not so casually sing about it. And in Kansas, word travels fast. There is not much to talk about other than cows and corn, so if someone leaves their zipper open, they're the talk of the town. I'm sure they mayor heard about it. And maybe if the corn and cows were not doing anything exciting that day, the governor heard too. You never know in Kansas.

My advice? Check your zippers twice. You do not want to be the laughing stock of a rest stop. EVER.

Sincerely,
Be a Zipper Nazi. You'll thank yourself later.

I wish I was a blond

(This is from Friday's Celebration, I've been meaning to post it for the past few days, but every time I tried, something came up. Enjoy!)

I like story's! I love listening to people tell stories and I do enjoy telling them myself. There are certain people who I always ask the same question so they always tell me the same story. They are filling my need for stories and don't even know it! And you do the same thing sometimes too, admit it. I also hate repeating myself multiple times when telling my great adventures. Seriously, if I'm telling you this story, you should be listening.

That being said, I have a lot of stories I could tell you. I could tell you about my vaulting at sports, or my wonderful driving experience, how many times I've talked to people who are talking to someone else but I though they were talking to me. I have a great story for zipper day, but as for today? Well I don't really know which one to start with.

Today in the car Mom and I were discussing how Tricia (a girl who's my age) is doing calculus and I'm still in preschool. (i mean seriously, What is calculus anyway? Scoff if you like but I really don't know.) we continue on and then I say "I'm still in the one plus one is three stage." I said that with a straight face. It was not a joke. And 2.5 seconds later I was checking the roots of my hair to make sure they weren't  blond. Just kidding, but I wish they were. It might give me a little excuse for my inability to do math, especially while joking.

And to clear things up, I do know 1+1=2. I just forgot. And if I forgot that, then you can pretty much imagine all the other things I forget.

Three cheers for story's, simple math and embarrassing moments. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to go get my math book. And dye my hair.

Birds?

It's draw a bird day.  When I was compiling my list, I thought I might as well add this one and give it a shot. Well, I did. And at the same time, I didn't. I didn't really draw birds. I drew morphed little penguin/thumb creatures with mustaches and carrots for noses and crescent moons for wings. And no bird like qualities what so ever. Apparently I missed the bird part of the day. I should have just thrown the whole idea out and gone with draw an alien day.

You'll see what I mean...

#1: Italian/potato inspired bird
#2: Straight necked
#3 Rubber Duck (ducks are birds right??)
#4 Midget Birdie
#5 Could be Pinocchio's pet
#6 Semi Bird like
# 7 Artistic Failure

So there you have it. And let me tell you, I really wish I could draw! I'm not completely sure how I'll get through life not being able to illustrate the littlest things. I think I'm going to have to rely on my ability to blab to get me through my adult life. Or my superior eavesdropping skills. Both are highly sought after. Or so I'm Told.

How did your draw a bird day festivities go? xoxo...Kryn

UPDATE: Well, apparently I don't count well because I forgot to define #6. And that was the most bird like of all my drawings.

Easters Past

Every year, Easter brings back many, many, memories. For some reason, I always remember me sitting on the stairs yelling at mom about hard boiled eggs. I remember weird things. Another Easter I had a sleepover, another one I FINALLY had age appropriate clothing. I always remember the egg dying and the ham eating and church going too. But this Easter (this as in, that I was so little that I didn't know that when I sang I sounded like a frog,) was by far the most memorable. And by this I also mean about 10 years ago.

Rewind to when I was a little, cute girl. Rewind a little past before Easter to Palm Sunday. Then, you come to this:
None of us really know why or actually what went down that Palm Sunday. But yes, basically, My best friend was hitting me in the face with a palm branch. On Sunday. In front of the entire church. I think its where I got my gift of multi tasking. I was trying to sing, remain looking cute and figure out why she was hitting me (as I was doing in the picture #1) I vividly remember me begging her to stop. But apparently she never heard me. She continued to whop me on the face throughout Jesus Loves me or whatever we were singing. Oh and get a load of my authentic Jerusalem Garb. It's just awesome.

So that is my #1 Easter memory. I think it will always top all others because it is really quite funny. What is your favorite Easter memory?

The real thing about Easter

Happy Easter Everyone! As much as I love all the Easter foof (Peeps, Easter Dresses, Egg Hunts, yada yada.) The basic fact of the day is that Jesus is risen. And that is totally the best part. How many other days of the year do we celebrate our savior, creator and our salvation? Not nearly as many as we should. So stop gorging yourself on candy for a second (although I encourage it.) and have a wonderful Easter celebrating what matters most - Jesus. And PS: Enjoy your ham if you are a pig predator.

April is Awesome

I am so excited for April!! I don't really know why, but I am. I think it might be because school ends and because summer is almost here. I know I just got over telling you how magical spring is and blah blah, but am already ready for summer. I'll probably be sharing the glories of fall in July. My internal calendar is only slightly odd. Did you know that in the summer I am addicted to orange cream Popsicle's? Well one summer some friends cam to visit us and we ate orange cream Popsicle. ALL the time (and watched return of the jedi 8 times!), so now it just seems like something you should always eat in summer.

And every one knows, today is April fools. I, personally, don't get the all the excitement. I mean, if you have a great joke to play one someone, awesome. But if not, you spend the entire day thinking up lame punk ideas that fail. It's kind of a sad day for the rest of us because we wish we could all think up something cool. So generally, I don't participate in April Fools Day Festivities. Although one time I played a great joke on Kj. I tied a rubber band around the sprayer (for lack of a better term) on the sink and so when he went to wash his hands he got sprayed all over. It was fantastic. Until he pointed it at me and I got soaked
Are you punking anyone today? please tell me, I think I should plan for next year to make up for all the years I' have not participated.  Xoxo, Kryn

March:: A review

March was a fairly good month, no? Excuse me for typing in a French Accent, but I think so.
 1.) I planted some pretties.
2.) Achieving goals and messing around with washi tape.
3.) Fave Fragrances for fabulous Fragrance Festivities (Okay, 6 F's, I'm just awesome.)
4. New blog series, Happy{Fri} Day.

I also got a concussion, but that's no biggie. Thank you for letting me share this month with you. See you next month! XOXO, Kryn
