Goodbye June

I am so sad June is over. I know most people don't shed tears over months passing (and I haven't either really) but June is BY FAR my favorite month, so I'm always a little sad when it's over. I also get sad when I finish eating a grilled cheese. Seriously sad. But we won't talk about that now.  Since June is done, I only have one month left of summer. I have been stressing over that, so much so that I had a dream where one day it was June and the next day it was the middle of August and classes were starting and I hadn't done anything fun. Of course, summers are just fun in general so not having any fun is practically impossible. I made a summer list and I'll be crossing of things on there in addition to the goals. I wanted to update you on this months goals. I did pretty well! (Not good mind you.)

  • Make Macaroons
  • Go on a 10 mile bike ride
  • Go on a 20 mile bike ride
  • Mix patterns in one outfit
  • Read the bible twice a day
  • Do push ups (or attempted push ups) once a day
  • Make bread sticks
  • Ride for a swirly ice cream cone
  • Get the new blog design up
  • Celebrate (and blog about) 6 holidays (2/6)
  • Be thankful
  • Drink more water
  • Pull weeds// Plant Flowers
Pretty good huh? You are probably thinking I am totally cocky for saying I was more thankful this month. Every day in my journal I've been writing 10 thingx I am thankful for/blessed with. I really enjoyed it! Some days it was so easy I had 20 things to write down, and sometimes I could hardly think of any. I think I'll keep it up for July.

I have not made July's goals yet. I usually like to take a little time to think about them. Of course, if I ever really think about anything for more than 2 seconds. I've never claimed to be a deep thinker.

Much Love, Kryn

PS: I updated my about page. I'm sure you are wanting to learn more about this ball of nonsense right??! Then go look!

Happy {Fri} Day 6/29

I can't really think of anything to say at the moment. It's still pretty early ad my brain hasn't had time to wake up. It's really early. Oh wait, it's 9:45.

It you waited 3 more minutes I could probably blab more than you'd like to hear. But we'll just keep things quiet with HAPPY FRIDAY! Okay, I have been TOTALLY slacking on these and I'm really sorry. Friday's just always seem to be the busiest day for us. Which is not true at all. I think I'm just especially lazy on Friday. Or every day.

I've been wanting to do them on this no picture form, and now I can! HUZZAH! I also use way to many comma's when typing.

I think I'm waking up - run for your life!

The post where I display lots of excitement!

Please tell me you are not thinking "What design? It's just white!" Honestley, white was just what I wanted. I have another background which I might change it to later, but for now it's gonna be white. Oh yeah! (Read the title)

I've been taking an un-planned and totally needed blogging break for the past month. My blog was having an identity crisis. When I started this blog (over a year ago!!!) I was using it as a way to communicate with long distance friends and celebrate obscure holidays. I had my little group of readers and didn't want to change a thing. But as time when on, I didn't want to celebrate all that often and some people stopped reading my blog and eventually I didn't really know what to do with myself or the blog. I was mad at myself because I didn't want to celebrate and frustrated because I didn't know what to post about.

So I decided I needed a fresh start, and this is it. I'm finally ready to go out into the blogging world and finally ready make this my blog. The blog I write for fun and for my own personal enjoyment and not for the number of comments and followers.

So welcome and such. I promise I won't stop being weird (believe me, if I could I would have done that 10,000 years ago!) and posting way to many pictures of Sophie and misspelling 2nd grade words. (And I promise to change the picture on my sidebar because I look like a crocodile.)

In short, I'M REALLY EXCITED! And hyper. But that is not unusual.

xoxo, Kryn

PS: My best friend recently re-launched her blog, be sure to head on over and say hello.

Today (an epic title)

Today I had the house to myself. In other words, I didn't accomplish much. I doodled and wrote and wrote some more and read and busted my eyes out and paint 6 of my toenails and gave myself a facial. And used the word and a lot.

I'm sure you are wondering what is up with the blog design. Fear not, it will look normal soon. I just wanted to get it so there was no border around the pictures, and I did! Yay! Okay, maybe it wasn't yay worthy? How about hooray? Anyway, horray or yay aside, I can now contiune with the design. Yippee! (How was that?)

Xoxo, Kryn

Sand Piles and Such

We've had a sand pile in the yard for a few days now. Our stucco is literally falling off, but with the rain we've been having, they've been putting off the repair. Of course, I don't totally know why you need sand...but then again, there's a reason I'm no builder or handywoman.

I personally hadn't been out to visit the sand pile. For two reasons 1.) I'm generally not attracted to piles of sand 2.) its been rainy. Rain really cramps my style okay? And apparently my sand pile visiting.

Today the rain stopped so I decided to go out and breathe a little fresh air. I think I did actually have a purpose for going out, some things have to you know. But whatever it was I forgot it and wandered around to the sand pile.

To find this..
My dork dog happily perched like the pile of sand is her natural habitat.
Of course there was some awkward rolling. The things animals do in the wild.
I ventured up just to prove to her that I was a good sport.

But by that time she'd already spotted a gecko. In other words, she'd left me.

I also got "the look" from Mrs. Minivan/Soccer Mom. The sand pile is somewhat high, so when you stand on top you can see over the fence and vice versa, cna be seen from over the fence. Thankfully, soccer practice called and she didn't stick around to see me jump down, which was a total fail. That might be the reason my legs and rear are covered in sand.

xoxo, Kryn

PS: I also had to bypass a snake, which I at first was sure was some kind of vicious man eating python. It was a 5 inch water snake. They're pretty much the same thing.

The Lip Issue

I started playing the clarinet this week. Well no, I didn't. I started attempting to play the clarinet. I'm no expert, but it must take a while to make the clarinet actually make music. Sure, I make noise. But music? You and I wish.

One of the many things I didn't know about the clarinet, and clarinetting* for that matter, is that your lips really don't enjoy the whole process. I've played it just about 4 hours over the past 2 days and my lips feel like they are going to fall off. And that hurts. I don't think I'd want to see anyone lip-less, much less myself, but sadly band continues 4 days a week for 4 weeks.....oh my poor lips.

Oh and another thing, I feared that when I started playing the clarinet I might end up looking like a certain Sponge Bob character....
I know you fear him too. I really have serious fears of looking like this, all weird and scary and blue.  But looking at the shape of his lips, his embouchure is totally off. Actually, he does not really have lips....the clarinet is a dangerous instrument.

I still need to name my clarinet. How about Lippy?

XOXO,
Lippy-Skippy

*Clarinetting is a word! You didn't know?!?! Maybe because I invented it 30 seconds ago.

Swim MEAT

Well I first typed Meat without even noticing. Clearly, I like pigs and pork and such so it was obvious for me to write meat. But of course, I know I didn't attend (or for that matter) participate in a swim meat. I didn't watch cows swim laps, although I was just about as graceful as a hefty heifer. The swine weren't cheering for me and certainly poultry weren't mistaking the pool for a birdbath.

I'm just so weird.

So anyway! I went to a swim meet, I swam, I freaked out, I flopped like a cow, I got a sun burn, My collection of bruises increased, and I decided I never want to do anything hard again. When I'm on the block and they call "Swimmers Take your Mark." an absolute terror goes through me. "I can't go in!" (Yes, I talk to myself even while facing a life or embarrass yourself to death situation.) "The water is too hard!" I then go through all the possible excuses for me to not swim, all in about the 3 seconds before the horn blows. Of course, then it blows and I have no choice but to suck it up and flop on in.

Although, the great thing about swimming is you don't sweat. Well, you might sweat at meets because all you do is stand around. But for the majority of the time you are in the water (duh!) so sweating is pretty much non existent. For the record, I hate sweating. It's gross and icky and ruins a good hair day.

I compare swim meets to swine and poultry and cows. Sheesh, I'm cool!

Sincerely,
Swining out

PS: I literally patted myself on the back for that one. Please tell me you didn't roll your eyes.

Questions

I created a little questionnaire for myself. Apparently, I needed to know more about myself! Mainly the reason I did it was because I needed something to post about and didn't have anything to post about. Thankfully, I can always count on a random slew of questions to make a post. Genius, huh?

I didn't come up with all these myself, I hijacked them from a variety of places. I mean borrowed.

what is your dream occupation?
A photographer/graphic designer. I also would love to have my own line of clothing. Remember: Dream, not necessarily reality.

what is your favorite food?
I love Mac- n- cheese (I'm over Kraft though.) And I love all desserts and breads. Amen.

what do you prefer to swim in: ocean, lake, or pool?
Pools. Lakes are cold and oceans have sharks. I prefer seeing what's behind me.

Do you like the city or the country?
I don't have anything against cows or hay bales, but I do love skyscrapers, and I always will.

What one word describes your life?
no idea (okay, that was 2.)

What is your style of clothing?
I was just talking about this with myself yesterday! I think I would describe my (non existent) style as feminine, cute and casual. I like to be very comfy (hence the ballet flats daily). Also, "Church Clothes" are everyday clothes for me.

 What are your hobbies?
Talking, eavesdropping, photography, baking and eating, diy's, writing letters and playing piano.

What is your favorite book(s)?
 books with pictures. (I'm serious.)

What reality TV show would you like to be on?
Family Feud!! I've wanted to be on it since I was 10, and I'm pretty sure I could rock it. Plus, I can clap really well. It's kind of required.

Dream Vacation?
6 month tour of Europe. We'll drink tea daily.

 What is your favorite animal?
Puppies, Kittens and Bunnies. I also have a weird affinity for Caribou.

What is your favorite clothes store?
That depends on who is buying. If you are paying, take me to Anthropology, J. Crew and Gap. If my wallet is sponsoring the shopping, Target and Old Navy are a done deal.

What's your favorite piece of clothing/accessory?
My gingham shirt. That shirt is a super hero like none other.

What's a typical day like at your house?
I get up, jump on the computer (not literally, that would ruin my chances of actually using it.) About 20 hours later, I pry myself away and go clean my room. I usually swim in the afternoon and I'm always up for evening bike rides.

Your favorite color
Pink has always been my one true love, but I fall in love with every color at one point. Although purple and I are not really friends. Consider us distant acquaintances.

What is one weird thing you do?
Just one?!? I'm not really sure how I can condense all my weirdness into 2-5 sentences. I sing randomly. Actually, it's more like squawking. I also like to dance. I always pretend I'm cool and in Justin Beiber music videos, when really the only thing I should be in is an ad for limp pasta.

What is your favorite kind of pen
I'm actually very picky on this (and other) subject! The ink must flow freely....(sounds weird, but it bothers me soo much when they don't!)

And that is that. I feel a little more informed. And scared. XOXO, Kryn

Happy {fri}Day! 6/8

Finally! I'm back with the goodies of the week. This week KJ grew up, flew by himself (didn't get lost) and went to be cool somewhere else. And locked the keys in the truck. Other than that, nothing spectacular happened to the rest of  us in tropical suburbia. I learned I can't do a push up, was actually grateful for thunder and made the worlds most awesome muffins.

The parents are calling...xoxo

Smarty Pants

This has nothing to do with the content of this post.
Well here I am 7 days late adding the celebrations - be sure and check them out. I am having issues now because I've already celebrated all the good holiday's from June last year. All the extra ones are not so awesome. I've got to figure out how to make them awesome. (And yes, I do happen to know there are more than 20 days in June. I'm just not finished gathering the celebrations yet.)

Its VCR Day! How cool is that?!? Well honestly, not very. I mean, who even uses one now days? The only things people use them for is to watch embarrassing home videos. I have several home video's of myself I'm glad we misplaced.  When I was little, I used to dress up in pajamas and I called myself "Miss Smartypants." I would sing and dance and have conversations with my enormous stuffed bunny, Rufus. I think one time Rufus and I were dancing but Rufus was a little clumsy and made me fall over and hit a chair. Rufus is not the most graceful fellow one could dance with.

Maybe in honor of VCR day I should don my flannel stripped pajama pants and dust of Rufus for one final chat. I'm feeling a bit sentimental...sniff.

Love,
Miss Smarty Pants

PS: I'm not sure if I was impressed with my pants, thus the name Miss SmartyPants. I will never understand my younger self. Correction: I will never understand myself.

PPS: Crossed off another goal - who's awesome!?

Things

That's just a little of the things that have been going down here. I'm not feeling wordy at all tonight, so I'm just going to update you on my monthly goals before I hit the hay. (I sound like a farmer...oops.)

Donuts.

I found out today that National Donut day is, actually celebrated! Most celebrations are sadly overlooked - but who could overlook doughnuts?! Dunkin' and Krispy were getting their celebration (and free doughnut) on. Today after our rock climbing (Which thankfully went better than my diving attempts!) we headed into unknown territory: doughnut land.

I for one love just about anything sweet. My family, not so much. Dad and Kj prefer steak any day to a doughnut. But we actually went and got doughnuts! It was pretty miraculous. We went to Dunkin' doughnuts...with my dad...which is a pretty big deal. My dad sort of unfairly hates it due to people messing up traffic trying to rush for their morning supply of coffee and doughnuts. But we braved it. I got a chocolate little lovely covered in sprinkle stars. I always forget it, but I love doughnuts. With all of my heart. Although it might seem pathetic to forget something you love.

On a side note (although this whole blog is kind of side note) when I was little and we would play LIFE, I would always be the policeman because they had doughnuts. Isn't that the most important part after all?

Sincerely,
My donut was a Chocolate Einstein.

Ps: donut or doughnut? I guess it is donut. I admit doughnut defeat.

PPS: I am still having good Friday's. In fact, no picture, but here are the good things

dairy free milk // new piano // cake pops in the park// stripes and floral // getting good workouts // mail days //  almost ready blog design // online exploring

They do look a little less glamorous without a picture don't they? That is, if they ever were glamorous. What are some good things that happened to you this week? XOXO!
