Happily Fragrant

I adore fragrances. Incense is for hippe-ish people, but fragrances are for girls of all ages (and men if they are brave souls. But I'm not encouraging it.)

I have a long history with fragrances. First of all, I've been addicted to lip gloss since I was a little girl. ( i like smelly lip glosses, thus their appearance on fragrance day.) Second, when I was about 8, my grandpa let my cousin and I loose in Ulta. He can't smell. He knew that we'd used every perfume in the store, but he didn't know how horrible we smelled! Everyone was gagging when we came in, and Kare and I were quickly forced into the shower before everyone else suffocated.

That being said, I've never been in an Ulta since, and I've been a little more conservative as far as perfume goes. But I still love it. I am loyal to bah and body works. They have wonderful smells and the best coupons! I always end up going back because I have a coupon- their marketing is working very well. But not for my wallet.

My fragrance day adventure today was just a trip to Bath and body works for some candles and lotion. It was the darn coupon. How can I let it go to waste? Especially when there's free lotion for the low price of $10? I went at a good time, I got the store manager and she was nice and helpful. I am realizing now I should have wished her happy fragrance day, I know she would have been enthused. I always forget to tell people I'm celebrating, but usually I'd don't want to. Bravery is not my thing. Despite forgetting that, my fragrance day was a great success. I got my candles and Aruba Coconut Lotion ( groovy name huh?) and I celebrated amazingly.

So before I forget again, Happy Fragrance day!

Sincerely,
Filled with fragrance

PS: Not literally.

PPS: my dream job is to come up with cool names for things like lotion, candles and paint. I read an article about it in Martha Stewart and I know I would be amazing at it.

PPSS: here's all the fragrances I've used today:

A nice random selection.

2011 Recap

Because the year is almost over and because I can't think of much else to post about, how about a little recap from 2011?

Most popular post.
Thank you for asking! My blog has been off and on public during its existence. Some post were um, not so great, while other had great success. The one with the highest views however, was my Victory! post, where I posted about my Chicago adventures. Also, Sophie and the Stick was pretty high up there.

Most Controversial post.
Because my amount of readers it limited, I don't get much controversy. But my Merci Beacoup post stirred up a little more than usual. I wrote about how much I love the Sweatin' to the oldies videos. It made some people cringe. It made others laugh.

Post who's success surprised me.
When I write little posts, they usually end up being good or totally bad. So when Nautical was written, I assumed that no one would really be interested in me knowing nothing about the coast guard. However, that was not the case. This was one of my most popular posts for quite a while.

Funnest post to write.
By the way, funnest is not a word, so if you decide to use it, please don't go telling people I said it first. Thank you. I like to have fun. Blogging is another way for me to have fun. So I generally try to enjoy blogging. Possibly the best one for me was my A tribute to the 80's and parents. I got my hands on some serious blackmail photos. And I sort of think I scared everyone away with that post.

Most hilarious post.
This is kind of a toughie. What I think is hilarious may be totally different from what you think is hilarious. And in fact it probably is. But I do know for a fact that several extended family members though that The Cow is a wonderful creation was pretty funny.

Post I am proudest of.
I'm not really sure much of this blog is worth being proud of. So I guess my post on 9/11 is the best I've got. I started out talking about bed making and hand sanitizer and ended on a rather profound statement. (For myself anyway.)

I think I'm going to go browse my archives and see what other kinds of nonsense I can find.

5 gooooldenn rings!

This post has nothing to do with rings, and indeed it is actually a smell of the season post, but I love it in the Muppets version of the 12 days of Christmas Miss Piggie belts out "Five GOOOOLDENNNNNN rings!"

Its so funny...right?

FIVE GOOOOLDENNNNN RINGS!

Okay, on to the candle. I will do Miss Piggie the justice of saying that she can probably belt better than me. The only reason I thought of that is because this is the 5th smell of the season.

FIVE GOOOOLDENNNN RINGS!

This is the best candle ever. It's pink. It smells good.

and the tin is so adorable!!! I'm trying to burn the candle fast so I can re-use the tin for a craft.

Thank you Rachel and Sarah for this wonderful, multi purpose candle!

oh, and by the way....

FIVE GOOOOOOLDENNNNNNN RINNNGS!

Let the celebration commence

This girl is a little older today.

And look who came to my party! These little princesses! I was so happy to have them.

Oh, and this little rug rat. You're always welcome.

I got the greatest gifts. Thank you wonderful family! I loved everything.

I couldn't get it open.
So much to add to my collection.

Now, I have 14 attendees attending my party and I am already hearing about groovy boots and tye dye . I am going shopping tomorrow to help Emily find the perfect garb.

Also, tomorrow I go out for birthday breakfast with dad. It is one of our greatest traditions. Every year, KJ and I pick a restaurant to go to with dad for breakfast. It's not always on our birthdays, but we strive to go very near it.

Happy Thursday chickabidies. Crafts come tomorrow - woot woot. :)

Wouldn't it be nice?

Wouldn't it be nice if I had a lifetime supply of lip gloss?

Or lotion? Or Hand Sanitizer? Or body butter and perfume and shower gel?

You bet it would!

There is a box in our living room for me. It's big enough. And it's bulging. And it's from Bath and Body works. Sadly, I have to wait until my birthday to open it. But it gives me a lot of time to guess about what's in it. To shake it and smell it and speculate.

And...its BIRTHDAY WEEK! Three cheers for our family's awesome tradition. You are so envious. I know it.

Number 4

#4: Cranberry Cider

This probably would be considered more of a "Thanksgiving" candle, only because cranberries associate more with Thanksgiving than any other holiday. But limiting this candle to one holiday is pretty bad, because it smells so good! I really don't care for cranberries, especially fresh ones, but this makes them seem so wonderful and luscious.

I love this candle. And yes, I say that every time.

Happy Saturday peoples!

PS: And a little note of advice...cover your ears if you hear Justin Beiber's Christmas music.

Thrice as nice

Yay! You are excited. You can't wait to find out what the next smell of the season is....right?!?!

So, lets get on with it.
Hot Buttered Rum.

This just plain smells like Thanksgiving. Sort of like a pumpkin pie. Sort of like Rum cake. It is 100% fantastic and wonderful.

It also soothes people who don't care if public hallways have to equal 8' on a 1/8 scale and and people who wish they had all the items they need for a project.

Yep. It's been proven.

The Second Sniff

The second smell of the season is....
Winter Candy Apple.

I love this! Of course, I'm not really sure if there is one I don't love.....

Probably not. Anyway, it smells fantastic.

(Just don't ask Christian about this, because as far as he's concerned, my hand sanitizer smells like a dead body.)

Smells of the Season

It's practically Christmas.

Can you believe it!?!??!

Clearly, I'm having problems with this fact. It seems like only yesterday I was rafting with the cousins.

And having a wonderful time on the longest day of the year.

But I love Christmas. So, I'm never really sad when it comes around. To usher in the holiday season, I went and bought holiday candles.Smell of the Season #1: Vanilla Bean Noel.

This candle is luscious. It makes me want take a bath in its wonderful vanilla goodness. It's not super Christmasy, but it looks super Christmasy. That counts right??

I think Bath and Body works should pay me for all this advertising I'm doing. If only they knew about me! I might contact their C.E.O......

Never mind.

#2 Newvember

This one is a phenomenon.

This will NEVER happen again.

But so fitting that it happened during my Newvember thingamajig.

#2: I WENT WITHOUT PERFUME TODAY.

I know caps is the rudest way to write, but this is all-cap worthy. I don't ever go without perfume. But I forgot today! It is the most most most most terrible thing.

Don't worry. This wont happen again.

Pink Christmas

I got this over the weekend. It is the best lotion ever.

You need to go get this lotion. You will not regret it.

Litte things

I love little things. I get so excited over a bottle of hand sanitizer. A small candle. Pretty nail polish. I desperately want a salt and pepper shaker collection. I caught myself drooling over clothespins. (Not literally.)

So Happy Sunday to you, my friend. Remember to stop and enjoy the little things in life.

UPDATE: Two teenage boys are playing with rubber bands in my house. They are taking my post to heart, what good boys!

Merci beaucoup

I guess I need to thank you. For reading this blog. For wading through the nonsense and lip gloss to find the real purpose of each post. Thank you for that. And don't you love my french?

I am also thankful for Richard Simmons. Who is that? I will tell you. One day last summer, the cousins and I were looking though Grandma's VCR tapes for something good. We stumbled upon something great. Oh, so great.

Oh yes, I did it. I ordered Sweatin' to the Oldies. It is this absolutely hilarious exercise video from about 1990. The songs and motions are hilarious, especially when Richard shouts "PAAAARTY TIME!!". You can't beat that. The Tunnel Of Love. The turquoise tights. The ferris wheel in a studio. It just keeps getting better!

I ran into my economics teacher today. I saw David too. He is still mad at me for using hand sanitizer in class. I am sorry! I did not mean to be so offensive. I was just exercising my rights. There is no law that says Mango Passion fruit hand sanitizer is not allowed in class. As far as I know anyway.

Sincerely,

one for me and one for YOUUUU!.

PS: Don't be turned off by the striped tank tops. It really adds to the whole effect. Let's party!

Made it

I did it! I made my bed! Please Applaud! Was that too many exclamation marks for you? I hope not. I kind of did a deep clean of my room today. I vacuumed. I dusted. I organized my lotion. It was so productive and nice.

Pre Bed making.

Post bed making. Proof that I really did do it. Somehow the punks wind up on my bed again. I think its apparent they run my life. That's changing now! I make the rules from now on, okay punks? Okay, great. I'm glad we are on the same page.

As I was pondering some great mysteries of life, I had the genius idea to combine all my Bath and Body works items and count them.
And there you have it. Am I obsessed? I don't know. Obsessed is a pretty strong word. Passionate will do. This picture really made me hate my camera. Oh dear.
And since is the ten year anniversary of 9/11, I thought I'd share this again. Before, I'd always thought of it as just a plane crashing into a building. I understood people died, but I never really thought about. But this year, I saw how bad it was. I realized how many people died. I realized how evil terrorist are. I hope we never forget 9/11. I hope we never forget about the people who lost their lives. And I hope we always remember how blessed we are to be Americans.

Sincerely,
Ameri-can, not an Ameri-cant

Demoted to Dwarf

I could not be sadder for Pluto. (Not this Pluto. No one could demote a puppy dog.)

So I told you I'm nerdy in the Astronomy area. Pluto, along with Saturn has been one of my favorite planets. So when I heard it was being demoted, I was sad. I did my fair share of research today. There he is before he was demoted. This is also a Hubble picture. I love Hubble!! I have an app on my iPod filled with Hubble pictures. It is just the greatest. I wrote a formal apology. It is from all mankind to the planet of Pluto.
I would have elaborated a little more, but I only had 4 lines so that was the best I could to.. I hope you'll forgive us Pluto. And now I'm talking to a planet.

Today was so pawsome. I think my classes arejust the greatest. I still love my bag. Someone noticed my hand sanitizer. And one of my teachers said I was a delight, and its only the first day! I am swamped with homework and I'll probably be dreaming of Flash Cards because I have so many now.

Sincerely,
No one asked my opinion when they demoted Pluto.

PS:
Found My punk on the couch today. Proves she is a punk.
