KRYNS GUIDE TO RED LIPS

It's really a shame that we all can't be Taylor Swift.

I'm not even a huge Swift fangirl or anything, but I think there must be charming things that come along with being Taylor Swift (1. popularity 2. good parking 3. photoshop) Oh, and being able to rock a red lip!

I used to be under the impression that you had to be T-Swift in order to wear red lipstick...sucessfully. But it turns out you don't have to be! You can just be yourself and get lipstick on your teeth and die of embarrassment later. But I wouldn't know from experience.

This one is great for when you're just dipping your toes into the hypothetical waters of red lipstick. On the softball field, at church, this one is a versatile color. And the tube has polka dots on it I mean HELLO. #turnon

(Benefit Bene Balm. $18)

When you want to be like Taylor Swift but without the commitment of a color that requires you to check your teeth every 24 seconds (been there, done that). These glosses are great (I'm on my 5th or so) and this color is no exception. Looks great with black, pearls and a little bit of sass.

(NYX Butter gloss in Cherry Pie. $6)

Okay so once you've mastered the lip balm and the lip gloss, it's time to graduate from Red Lip Academy and move on to bigger and better and bolder and brighter things! Always have a mirror or camera phone ready for mandatory lip stick checks! Just make sure to do it when your crush is not looking....see there's more to the art of wearing lipstick than meets the eye!

(Revlon Lipstick in Love that Red, $8)

There you have it! The little army of red lip products that can lead you to a life of song lyric fulfillment.

Is there anything more to life?

"And I've got that
RED LIP CLASSIC
thing that you like"

nope.

Some pink for spring! (how unsual!)

I feel like every new season, I need a few refresher makeup items. Granted, need is a relative term, but still! One should never underestimate the powers of a fresh coat of lipstick or a swipe of new nail polish. It's one of life's greatest mysteries how something can simple can totally brighten our moods.

In other words, girls are really confusing!

Anyway, for spring I was feeling the hot pink. Which is funny because as a pink girl through and through, the amount of hot pink I have is surprisingly small. So of course, I had to remedy that situation! Essies "Mod Squad" (So good!) and a NYX lipstick in "Fig" seemed to do the trick nicely.

What colors are you sporting this Spring?

LIP LOVIN'

Okay girls, let's talk about lipstick! I realized a few days ago that I had a great and untamable urge to talk about lip products. The unfortunate part was that I realized this whilst texting a boy. And though he mmhmm'd and such, it was clear I was marketing to the wrong audience. So, a blog post is here!

Let me begin my lipstick story at the start! After begging since I was 5 years old, mom finally bought me a "beginner" lipstick last year.  Which basically means it was clear but it had just enough pink to convince me, it was legit! So legit that KJ used it when he was desperate for chap stick! At that point, I was feeling kind of messed up, so I went and bought a HOT pink one.

Now, I love me some hot pink but NOT ON MY LIPS. Because hot pink is good anywhere but there. And then I was terrified of lip products for almost 6 months, since looking like a clown is not really my style. (Well, not intentionally anyway...)

But! Lo and behold, the heavens opened and normal lipsticks fell out! The harps were playing the angels were singing, and I found the babies. And while new irrational fears have risen out of lipstick (I always get it all over my face. Thus, I have to pull the "casually checking the back of my ipod" since we all know that when in distress, ipods double as mirrors.)

Anway, thanks for chatting! Do you have anything to add? Lipsticks are one of God's gifts, are they not?

Happily Fragrant

I adore fragrances. Incense is for hippe-ish people, but fragrances are for girls of all ages (and men if they are brave souls. But I'm not encouraging it.)

I have a long history with fragrances. First of all, I've been addicted to lip gloss since I was a little girl. ( i like smelly lip glosses, thus their appearance on fragrance day.) Second, when I was about 8, my grandpa let my cousin and I loose in Ulta. He can't smell. He knew that we'd used every perfume in the store, but he didn't know how horrible we smelled! Everyone was gagging when we came in, and Kare and I were quickly forced into the shower before everyone else suffocated.

That being said, I've never been in an Ulta since, and I've been a little more conservative as far as perfume goes. But I still love it. I am loyal to bah and body works. They have wonderful smells and the best coupons! I always end up going back because I have a coupon- their marketing is working very well. But not for my wallet.

My fragrance day adventure today was just a trip to Bath and body works for some candles and lotion. It was the darn coupon. How can I let it go to waste? Especially when there's free lotion for the low price of $10? I went at a good time, I got the store manager and she was nice and helpful. I am realizing now I should have wished her happy fragrance day, I know she would have been enthused. I always forget to tell people I'm celebrating, but usually I'd don't want to. Bravery is not my thing. Despite forgetting that, my fragrance day was a great success. I got my candles and Aruba Coconut Lotion ( groovy name huh?) and I celebrated amazingly.

So before I forget again, Happy Fragrance day!

Sincerely,
Filled with fragrance

PS: Not literally.

PPS: my dream job is to come up with cool names for things like lotion, candles and paint. I read an article about it in Martha Stewart and I know I would be amazing at it.

PPSS: here's all the fragrances I've used today:

A nice random selection.

On my radar

I am always thinking of things that would make my life complete. Of course, none of these will ever do that, but sometimes I like to imagine that I'd be the happiest and cutest girl in the world if I had these things. Don't remind me I can be sort of shallow okay? Thanks.

Lip gloss! Of course, I always could use some more. And then new tropical flavors are perfect for spring!

Address labels. I write so many letters, cute address labels seem sort obvious.
A Vera Bradley! I already ordered mine in the new spring color, so this shouldn't really be on the list. But I don't actually have it yet, so technically I want one still.
A cute $75 dollar coat with striped nautical, navy lining that I wont wear? I want this so bad.

What have you been wanting lately? I hope they are in your budged, unlike mine. I'm sort of a dreamer like that.

Goals (that involve lip gloss.)

New Years Resolutions anyone? Here are mine. Be assured, I'll forget them all by February.

Get more lenses and improve my photography-Improving is always a good thing. I think first on my list are filters and a macro lens.

Sew More- I want to sew fancy, pretty dresses with lovely material. Enough said. Oh, and I'd like them to be retro/vintage.

Play a sport- This is a new thing for me! I would really like to play volleyball and maybe track? On second thought, no thanks. Volleyball is just fine.

Learn HTML/Corel Draw- I have always wished I could design my own templates and stuff like that. 2012 is the year to do it!

Grow my lip gloss collection - Wow this is really something to aspire too right.......right?! Okay, not so much, but I still would like to do this.

And there you have them. What are your new years resolutions? I hope they are all a little better than Number 5.....

I'm off to bath and body works to begin accomplishing goals!
