A VERY VARSITY TUESDAY

4 seasons.
72 games.
80 million tears shed.
2 permanently bruised knees and
one heart full of love for these beautiful girls
and this sport I am lucky enough to play.

Well, that was interesting.

Each season of volleyball, I learn something news.

And ironically, that something is NEVER about volleyball.

The fist year I learned about Christ,
The second year I learned about myself,
This year, I learned about people.

Halfway through the season, it hit me like a ton of bricks. The game isn't what's important, the passing the setting the (attempted) spiking. I'm fairly positive that 30 years from now I'll forget that one amazing save, or that (very!) rare time we all actually did the ace cheer.

But, I know I won't forget the girls I played with.

That put it into perspective for me. Its not about the game happening on the court, it's about the girls playing the game. And in my case, it's a relief to know the stats will eventually be forgotten, but how we treat others? Not so! We're stuck with that for record for all of eternity.

Moral of the story: Play with Grace, Play for God.

Also, shout out to my JV baes, because lets face it! I'm JV at heart!

ONE: 3 teams this year = happy homeschoolers!
TWO: Abberdoodle, my true love!
THREE:  In which Jessie and Jackie flaunt their long arms
FOUR: The best part of the game: when it's over!
FIVE: My BCDS girl. Benji approves.
SIX: In team photos, it only matters if you look good!
Am I right, or am I right?

TAKING TEAM PHOTOS, BRB.

As fate would have it, this year I am dubbed photographer for all 3 volleyball teams...(even the one I'm on! Guess I'll get a selfie for my individual photo as you would expect no less from me!) anyway. I mean, I like taking photos! A lot! But this is like a terrifying honor because they actually can't be blurry. Or uber artsy. Or over exposed. Or grainy.

Think of all the beaming grandparents I would disappoint if they were!

Forget frameable or award winning, My goal for these photos are grandparents-wallet-worthy. That's the real prize in photo life, My friends.

99 Problems like WHATTT

After a long day at school and right before a long evening at volleyball, Sarah graciously offered to help me test some poses for the volleyball team photos (!!) And of course, since Sarah is ALWAYS adorable and then on top of that she was having a REALLY good hair day, we got some extra keepers in between the stuffy poses.

And sorry. For the title. Iggy just gets me sometimes.

Like I said, sorry!

PS: Everyone! Go check out Sarah's blog!

HI, LET ME BABBLE.

I've been meaning to write this post for probably thirty minutes, but I keep getting interrupted by the urge to listen to 80's music. And when the 80's call, you answer! 80's aside (and let's not forget this gem!) These are a few selfies from the first day of school! Well, if you want to get technical these are from the first day before the first day of school - details details! And the moral of the story is that if you wear the same outfit 2 days in a row, don't tell anyone. Except the Internet in my case. I always trust the NSA with my most devious secrets. Don't you!?

And on a side note, we have our first varsity volleyball game today which gives me mixed feelings of excitement and puke. But! I have noticed that when I am nervous I tend to get the blogging urge, if you know what I mean (which you probably don't, so anyway), and so I will probably whip out about 50 posts in 12 seconds. Yay for efficiency, I guess!

And before my death or I mean, I leave for Volleyball, let me leave you with some links because exploring the internet is fun!

▲▲ this shirt, OHMYGRACIOUS SOMEONE BUY IT FOR ME, THANKS.

▲▲ Scarlet peonies, I didn't even know such magic existed.

▲▲ of course, you internet know-it-all's know this is old news, but its a really interesting video!

▲▲ the styling in these photos are fab!

▲▲ my mom was looking for volleyball warm up songs and found this (and the greatest wedding processional of all time, for that matter!) read the comments, they are hilarious!

This should explain everything.

Finally! Volleyball is over.

The last game was great. We lost, but played SO well for us. Wanna know something creepy? Instead of for I wrote fur. Furrrr....

Okay, it's 10 and I just ate taco bell. That should explain everything right?

Halfway through the varsity game, we noticed the sky was doing magical things. I had the wrong lens and I didn't bother to put it in manual (thus the VERY grainy results) But Andy and I had fun prancing through the field and blinding innocent strangers with my socks. Cheeto power!

V-Ball Update

Every time I start something that involves effort and commitment, there comes a time when I get completely fed up and declare to mom I'm quitting whatever it is and pursing a career in underwater basket weaving. Forget the pain, sweat and hard work!  Who wouldn't wanna weave baskets under water...I mean seriously!

Okay, so in case you are wondering, that happened with volleyball.

I didn't do anything too terribly. It's just always a little bit frustrating when you try and try and still cant get it right. Serves don't get over. Bumps go the wrong direction. The sets really shouldn't count as sets at all...

And if I were intelligent, I'd make up some super inspiring quote about perseverance and such. But sadly, the movie stars and fashion designers have taken all the good lines. Thank goodness the internet has a boundless amount!

Thanks for listening to me whine. Here's to better practices, and to actually getting the ball over the net!

PS: I realize this is not an exciting post - sorry!

Goals (that involve lip gloss.)

New Years Resolutions anyone? Here are mine. Be assured, I'll forget them all by February.

Get more lenses and improve my photography-Improving is always a good thing. I think first on my list are filters and a macro lens.

Sew More- I want to sew fancy, pretty dresses with lovely material. Enough said. Oh, and I'd like them to be retro/vintage.

Play a sport- This is a new thing for me! I would really like to play volleyball and maybe track? On second thought, no thanks. Volleyball is just fine.

Learn HTML/Corel Draw- I have always wished I could design my own templates and stuff like that. 2012 is the year to do it!

Grow my lip gloss collection - Wow this is really something to aspire too right.......right?! Okay, not so much, but I still would like to do this.

And there you have them. What are your new years resolutions? I hope they are all a little better than Number 5.....

I'm off to bath and body works to begin accomplishing goals!
