TA DA! It's summer!

I gotta say, I'm pretty in love with this summer. It's been a whole lot of nothing which in summer speak equals a whole lotta AWESOME! Like, you know the days are good when you find yourself watching seven Disney channel shows in one sitting...heart melts! Some days i try and pretend all refined (by the way, I don't do so hot at it) and the some days I'm totally fine with the fact that I'm cackling at this video and choreographing water ballets. Within the same hour!

BTW, I'm a rockstar underwater ballerina. Pirouettes like you've never seen before!

funnies...if you can call them that...

-using the words couture and inner tube in the same sentence. Next' it'll be avant-garde seat cushions or something.

-finding a piece of bacon in my purse (???) and getting really excited that I had found a piece of petrified wood.

-Trying to convince KJ to take shorter showers, "People who take long showers have bad character!" Not my finest argument.

-an add for tomato sauce that described it as sassy. Somehow, when I think of tomato sauce, sassy isn't the first word that comes to mind.

-spending a very long time deliberating over which side of the cheese grater to use. Big hunky shavings for a more manly sandwich or itty bitty gratings for extra elegance and class? Decisions, Decisions. in the end, itty bitty cheese won! Such a classy grilled cheese, you go girl!

-crying because I woke up at 10. And I do not mean a little sniffle...I mean ALLIGATOR tears. In my defense I was....never mind.

Ta ta for now...off to do some arabesques, or something equally enchanting! Have a happy day, and eat some popsicles. Because...you should!

Pink dresses and peonies...

Oh peonies.

You know, I kinda think flowers are heart breakers. I mean, they are SO GORGEOUS and then poof, you wake up one morning and they are a soggy, floppy mess. I thought flowers were supposed to mend broken hearts...not rip out the stitches!

I kinda think I might get overly attached to flowers. (and also have really lame analogies.)

And also, sorry for totally interrupting your majestic moment with the peonies. What's that...MY FACE? I don't know, I just thought that peonies and pink dresses deserve to go side by side.  So here's to summer, peonies and pink dresses to boot.

PS: I crossed off some things on my summer list....i mean syllabus! Check it out, cause you know you wanna.

New york CITAY!

Welcome to another installment of  "How to pronounce with Kryn!" Cue the awkward clapping theme song and grab a family in matching outfits, and we've got ourselves a game show fit for kings!

Of what, I'm not sure though.

So let's talk New York City. Actually, scratch that. It's New York CITAY! This one I actually didn't totally make up, so let's just hope it's not copyrighted or something. Do I look like a criminal to you? I mean, I cried when I broke my makeup....so devious. Back to the CITAY (it's just so fun to say!) It's actually loosely or kind of totally based of a Pace commercial. But we've been saying it for so long now that it's practically a family tradition.

'Cause every one has a family tradition based on a salsa commercial. EVERYONE.

Cue the awkward clapping music, it's time for a commercial break! (But of course, don't touch that dial, there is plenty more on channel CHEESE!)
▲▲ parks are so refreshing in the city. And everyone else thinks so to! (We went to Central Park and Battery Park, the latter with a nice view of Miss Liberty!)
▲▲ contemplating life's most difficult decisions....stripes or polka dots?

▲▲ Of course, Taxi pictures! My guess, but if you looked at NYC from above, it would be 99.99999 (just to be safe!) perfect yellow. Give or take.
▲▲ Ah, Time Square! The largest public place showcasing the depravity of man! Oh, the joy! More on this later.
.
▲▲ Alligator attack! Rawr. Or something!

Have you ever been to New York? If so, what was your favorite thing about it? One more post about NY, and then I promise I'll shut my trap forever! Or until we go again, whichever comes first!

NEWS FLASH! Cheeseball caves for instagram!

One thing I hate is when people are like "I am SO not doing yada yada!" and then 2 seconds later they are doing exactly that.

Well, thankfully I waited a bit longer than 2 seconds to change my very made up mind about instagram. I caved. I feel somewhere in the middle of ashamed and YEAH!

The real reason I didn't like instagram was all the stupid pictures of I'm not really sure what (yogurt containers come to mind?) in the ridiculous Nashville filter (which I used to be OBSESSED with back in the day.)But apparently, there is a very artsy side to instagram which is a little more inventive than bathroom mirror selfies and duck faces. I'm taking it more as a project.

The last straw (I always want to say spaghetti noodle!) was/ is all the fun and dandy projects/hashtags things. #4picsinwhite and #popsicleproject and #organizedcolor really sent me over the edge - finally something worthy of all the time I give instagram!

Well, not totally. But I can  justify popsicle's better than yogurt, just saying.

thegirlkryn is my username - it's full of cheesy goodness! (I hope!)

Humor me, it's a bloggy birthday!

Hi blog, happy Anniversary! Although, I didn't know you were married!?

Seriously, why do we call it anniversary anyway? Did I unknowingly marry my blog the day I started it? Does that somehow make my blog...A BOY! Eeek, this is getting awkward!

So anyway, 3 summers ago I started my happy-go-dorky little blog and I love it to bacon bits and pieces. I've shared an obnoxious amounts of typos and embarrassing stories and somehow have managed to wrangle a reader or two to comment some. (thank you for sacrificing your sanity! I promise, I won't tell your friends!)

And I also promise that while I appear to not take things to seriously here on the blog, I do in real life.

Except when Justin Bieber songs come on. Then I just have to dance.

(and maple leaf rag! I was totally jigging in lego land once...and my thighs were jiggLING too! They know what's up!)

Although three years is mere and tiny, it seems ginormous to me, so since I like to give advice...three blogging tips for you for three equally odd blogging years from me!

BLOG BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT.
I used to try and do certain things because I thought people would think I was cooler. Now, I've totally given up on that. (Although, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try a l-i-t-t-l-e?) I find that I get more frustrated with myself and blogging and stuff in general when I'm worried about how many comments or yada yada. The biggest joy I get from blogging is going through my posts, so I totally base my posting on that. It's made it change a little, but in the end it's better to go with your blog gut.

Blogs are getting more human by the minute. What is this, cyber Star Trek?

I don't think that related at all.

INSPIRATION DOES NOT FALL FROM THE SKY
And what is inspiration anyway? A person, a photo, a feeling? If you do want to blog, YOU are going to have to blog. And not be so heavily inspired by someone that it's not really you anymore. Inspiration is like a snowball, once it starts, it keeps getting bigger and bigger. So take it in stride and spend time coming up with posts, ideas and so on. They won't fall from the sky.

FIND YOUR STYLE
I seriously think I spent the first 2 years of blogging finding my style, and I've only recently found it and began to hone in on it. If you haven't figured out your groove yet, you will. Just give it time and keep plugging along - even when it's rough!

Oh, and what's this? A bonus tip!

DANCE AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.
Especially to cheesy music.

But really, what would this blog be without you? NOTHING! So thank you for reading and commenting and making my day, like, all the time. You are the bestest of the cat's pajamas. Maybe even footie pajamas.

Mucho love to you and another fab year of blogging, however many typos that may entail!

Summer Syllabus because I pretend I'm fancy

Summer! Summer! I feel as though summer is a bit more nostalgic feeling that it actually ends up ever being. Like I imagine all these perfect, romantic sunset picnics while in reality it's more of a battle between you and misquotes, and the bug wins!

But for the record - I'm an optimist.....

In my dreams.

Like last Summer, a Summer list was in order. On a hardly related note, it needs a new name, "Summer List" is just as generic as the brands at walmart. But that's for later. For now I give you my list, for the sake of whatever.

Make Macaroons
BUILD MUSCLE! YEAH!
(ironic combo, no?)
Visit a new state
Continue working on the splits
PARTY IN PUERTO RICO!
Internet free week
Concoct twisty lemonade
Got to the beach at least once
FACE the Library!
Get contacts
Buy a summer perfume.

Alright, that's done. Now, what's on your summer agenda? list? record? I totally just looked up synonyms for list and dun dun dun, syllabus! How fancy shmancy does a "Summer Syllabus" sound? You gotta admit, it's got a ring to it.

Summer Syllabus it is...of at least until I change my mind again, which will probably be in 20 seconds. Enjoy it while it lasts!

New York, New York

New York is just one of those cities that makes you bubble for no particular reason. Other than wildly amazing flowers and the rad skyline, of course. We hit New York this past weekend and walked a ridiculous amount and saw all kinds of crazy good things. And also some equally weird things, but that's the city for ya! I tell ya, I can't get enough of this going new places. It's quite invigorating!

Just like watching House Hunters! Nothing gets your blood pumping like a case of "This one has the fab pool, but that one has the postcard view!"

Somehow, all conversations lead to House Hunters.

Anyway, this is probably the first of many New York posts, so prepare yourself for the feet pictures and city pictures and the pictures of me looking like I would rather be swimming with alligators than having my picture taken. Sometimes seeing a photo of yourself is the worst form of torture.

Other than missing an episode of House Hunters, of course.
