I made this a while ago, but didn't totally have a reason to post it.
Today though, I need to be awesome. Totally awesome at the swim meet.
Thank goodness I consider 6th place awesome!
Wish me luck! Xoxo....Kryn
Happy {Fri} Day 7/6
I've posted every day for a WHOLE WEEK! Let's hear the applause! Just kidding, it's been totally fun. Let's hope I can keep this up. I think the main AWESOME thing this week was that I followed my schedule a ton more and got my posts ready for my other blog, that helped a lot!
Also, I finally got the "You might also like" thingy added to my blog! Yippee! You are excited too right? Okay good. Now you can go read more nonsense!
Tomorrow we have our second swim meat. I'm thrilled. Or not. I'm rather terrified. The races, they are not SO bad. But when you sit around for 30 minutes you get really, really, REALLY nervous.
Or at least I do.
Which then makes me have to go the bathroom 50 million trillion times.
I live a rough life.
What good things happened to YOU this week?
Xoxo, Kryn
PS: I did meat without thinking, again. For not eating meat all that often, I sure do have it on my brain all the time.
Blackberry Ice Cream
I know I talked about this yesterday, but since it was on my goals and summer list, I'd thought I'd share more. Feel free to forgo this post, if your heart desires. But I suggest you stick around for the recipe for this ice cream. Or at least where you can get it. I'm feeling lazy and don't want to type the whole thing.
Number one was to make ice cream. I'm sure you needed me to tell you that! I'm generally not one for ice cream. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But I'd rather have a baked good. So when I DO have ice cream, I have cookie dough or cake batter. I'm fairly predictable.
But! I totally switched it up and made blackberry.
And oh my goodness.
It will knock your socks off.
I got the recipe from this book, which happens to have an adorable cover which totally ups the awesomeness. I was seriously tempted by the salted caramel too. And the cookies and cream. Of course.
But the blackberry. It's sweet and delicious and a very lovely shade. That's part of why I made blackberry. The compote you put in tastes sooo good, I was having trouble not drinking it. Seriously, make this ice cream. Your life will be (almost) complete.
And good news, remember yesterday I said it was more soupy? Well, I actually didn't but it was. Over night, it hardened up and is REAL ice cream. I should have taken more pictures, it looks quite different than the soppy mess above. (soppy messes can still taste amazing mind you.)
Also, I added the follower bar to the side of my blog. I'd love it if you'd follow. But I'll love you if you don't.
Have you ever made ice cream?
Much love, Kryn.
Positions (and Ice Cream!)
The fireworks just started, which means soon I'll be assuming my anual Forth of July position of hands over ears. It's also my movie theater and when motorcycles drive by pose. I do it to be cool. And I don't want to disappoint tonight!
We are the most unfestive people on the planet. We didn't wear red white or blue. We didn't go to a bbq, and we don't even have fireworks (although, not that I'm sad.) But I made Ice Cream! Which is very festive. Growing up we would always go to my grandparents for 4th of July and my grandpa always made ice cream. Lots of lemon velvet. I diverted onto a diffrent path...
Blackberry! I'm an ice cream rebel. It was delish - but not totally ice cream. More like melted-ice cream even though it's been in the freezer for 5 hours - ice cream. I still love it...whatever it was.
I love America. I love it's values and freedom and I'm SO blessed to live here. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The more I learn about our founders and what they wanted for our nation, the more I love this country and hope it can stay this way forever. Well, their way forever. I just love this place. Red, White and Blue are still my colors.
And If you'll excuse me.....(you'll know what I'll be doing!)
PS:
During dinner the pups began to freak out about the firecrackers we heard. This involved them trying to climb on our laps while we were eating. Needless to say, if they had arms they'd be covering their ears too. But since they don't, I suspect they expect us too. Excuse me Bubbles, but I've got my OWN ears that need covering.

Inspiration Board
I'm not talking virtual.
I actually made this back in January. Sheesh! So here I am, 7 months later telling you about it! Makes you wonder all the other stuff I've missed....
When we started getting The Wall Street Journal, I was pleased as punch to see that they had fashion and style articles, and they were actually good! I think those style columns might even be better than all the gossip in USA today. Maybe. Anyway, I began hoarding all the articles with pictures and informative articles so I could make my inspiration board.
To make this, I used poster board, modge podge, clear spray paint and a little scrap paper for the little birdie. I layered all the pictures with a coat of modge podge and slapped them on there. A few months later, I applied the spray paint to give it an even shine.
Now it sits in my room next to a stack of pillows, perfect for reading or journaling. One would think anyway, but I've never done it. During the school year, I put all my homework on there. It actually kept stuff in place! (duh! here I am again, arriving late at parties.)
(this board also keeps guests entertained. All 2 people that have been in my bedroom since January have been intrigued by The Tyranny of The Belt.)
What does your inspiration board look like?

July Goals
Can I just tell you how much I love iPads?
I LOVE iPADS.
Okay thanks. I really do. I am finally putting our new one to good use. Well, playing 50 levels of Diner Dash is good use too. Practical use? Are blogs practical? I don't know, and frankly, I don't care. I've never really been one for practical things.
I actually DO have a little more planned than telling you about iPads and Diner Dash. Goals! Come on, you know they are exciting. Or not. But they make you do things. Since this is my last month of Summer I'm keeping the goals pretty light. No school or AHG badges involved. Just fun!
Make Ice Cream
Read Bible 2x a day
Make one outfit post (and publish it!)
Post 2 diy's/crafts
make list of things needing to be done for each day
Sell ebay items
Make dinner 2-5 times
Drink Soda from a glass bottle
Clean room before band each morning
Reach Savings goal
Read 4 classics
Have fun at band concert
Cross off EVERYTHING on my summer list
Though there are quite a few they are all pretty easy and simple. The summer list is different than goals. I'll update you further on the matter later.
(back to iPad.)
I love this thing. Did you know people have actually married their iPhones and iPads? It's true, we heard it in church!
I promise, it fit in the sermon analogy.
Oh shoot, I just realized that the iPad blogger app does not have spell check. If you've read this far, congrats.
Much Love,
Kryn

I like to reminisce
A little while ago (okay, 2 months ago), Emily and I were telling a friend all of our hilarious old stories. We've been friends since what seems like the dinosaur ages, and our stories are just as long as a sauropod. A few that came to mind were the time we pretended we were slaves, and the time we tried to hunt an alligator (also known as a 5 inch fish.) Our repertoire is longer than you'd like to know, and we laugh at everything.
We have assumed more nick-names than I ever thought possible (Our favorites being Rebecca Brisket and Kathleen I say Lahaye). We can at any moment belt out into a song written by yours truly. We fight for who can spot the Vera Bradley first and who can get to the computer fastest. (Always shouting " I CALL THE POWER CHAIR.")
We've made a movie staring a potato and some (naughty) crackers. We've observed the tans of her neighbors.
We are basically the weirdest of friends. And we like it that way.
I think I'm finished reminiscing. But I can go into detail about alligator hunting adventures if you like. Although I'm sure that when I was little if I really DID see an alligator, all I would do is scream bloody murder. And I just know you don't want me to demonstrate that.
Love,
