We were supposed to start school yesterday. But with mom being out of town, I opted for going to a friends and having fun instead. Sadly, today came and so did school. Although, I did learn some French, so it's not ALL bad.
Tomorrow, it really, REALLY will start. We have our first classes of the year. Weirdly enough, I haven't even planned what I'm wearing. Last year, on Thursday night I would talk to Emily about what we were wearing on Wednesday. Even one time, she told me she was wearing a cardigan and I said "oh, how are you buttoning it??" Now days, I'd like to say I'm not so shallow. But sadly, that's not the case! I'll probably be into hair or shoes or something equally silly.
And now, I'm reading PW's favorite names. Because it's the cool thing to do! It's hilarious, my moms first name and middle name are on the list. (for those of you that don't know, my mom and Ree were best friends when they were kids.) I call it my "connection." Problem is, she's never met me.
It's a bummer when things like that happen.
Have an amazing first day of school! (If you've already started school, have an amazing tomorrow. Okay, I'm being weird.)

Not on the menu
Today, Cheese Pizza was not on the menu. I love cheese pizza. When the last day of my life rolls around, I want to be surrounded by cheesy pizza, cupcakes and the people I love. And maybe a potato somewhere in the mix. I love potato too. We had an extra nice dinner tonight because we had a guest! We did not know our guest was coming, but she came, and she stayed. We had Rice and garlic pickle and Raita! I love Raita. The day before the last day of my life I will have fried chicken and Rita. Generally people don't mix cuisines so much, but I never go by the rules.
As for a Kodak Moment....
I think this will suffice.
And this? Another amazing Kodak Moment.
Elise will be going to college next year. College! This is so sad. Good news, she is probably going to MSU. I fully intend to invade her dorm during the year and impress her roommates with my superior muffin making skills. We've already planned this. They will swoon and wish I'd never leave. They'll beg for my recipe. They'll cry when I won't tell them. And then, they'll forget all about it. It's just how college kids are.
And, I've begun planning my epic 14th party. May I hint, you might want to brush up on the 70's.
Sincerely,
Keeping the recipe secret
PS: Anyone watch P.W Saturday???

Just because....
Today's holiday is very carefree. Sort of like the 70's. So I think that means I should don some flare pants and a leather fringe jacket and head down to the local hippie fest. Anyone want to join me?
You should probably wear something like this. Hippies are very particular about people not misinterpreting their carefree style. It's an art. Headbands are excepted.
What I love about today is that there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to it. That kind of echo's my life because I tend to ditch rhyme and reason if at all possible. Logic is not one of my things. So basically today I could do anything I wanted. I didn't have to try and sneak something nasty in my diet. I didn't need do to any research or look up important stuff. So just because... I am going to tell you what I did today.
Side note: I have a very sweet friend, who whenever I ask her what she did that day always replies, "Well, I got up at about 8:30. And then I brushed my teeth. Then Mom told me I had to go feed the Animals, my horse was really thirsty after all. And when I was there, I saw a fly on her, so I had to shoo it off...." It kind of goes on for a while which is just what I love about her because she's so sweet, and I listen more and talk less. Something I don't engage in too often. Anyway, I promise not to go into too lengthy detail. But in case you were wondering, I have brushed my teeth.
I got up.
I ate a muffin.
I watched Pioneer Woman.
I cleaned my room.
I cleaned my room.
I cleaned my room. (This goes on for a while.)
I watched church.
I ate chips.
I am blogging now.
Such a great re-cap! I forgot to mention that somewhere in between all the cleaning my rooms, my punk threw up, So I had to clean that up as well.
Pioneer Woman was pretty good. I was mostly watching through my fingers because whenever anyone said anything it sounded like "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm on Food Network! I need to be calm and normal and not make it look like these boots and tight jeans are actually not as uncomfortable as they look." They probably were not thinking any of these things, but I was. They were probably all thinking about how cool it was, and they all probably forgot that the boots and jeans were really uncomfortable and that they were eating ten pounds of butter. I'm serious about the butter. I'm almost positive Mrs. W fainted because even I was thinking they would all keel over at any second due to mass amounts of butter intake. I guess the work that comes with a country life allows some spare room for some butter. Or a lot.
So there you have it. All of this just because. All of my random musings I've wanted to post, but never had the appropriate day to do it. I'm so thankful for today. Just because.
Sincerely,
I think I'd be scared if I met a real hippie.
PS:
They are making chocolate sheet cake! Please invite me over. Remember Pioneer Day? I think so.
PPS: Mixer winners not announced. She's still recovering from all that butter.

Lucky?
I don't know about you, but I don't classify myself as a lucky person. I mean, is luck even real? At this point we reach a dilemma. What about fate and chance? Philosophy is not my forte. Getting to the point, if luck is real, my aunt is really lucky. Something about her is lucky. I wish i could have inherited that. She got to meet Oprah (not that that is something to be proud of.) Glenn Beck, Train and she's chatted with Stu at Barnes and Noble, what an honor! She's always the lucky caller on radio shows. She's always Wednesday night Bingo winner at the senior center, and she's not even a senior.
So in honor of Lucky (Me) day, I entered a contest. Along with about 5000 other people. But who's counting anyway.
Isn't this just the cutest? Generally, I despise scalloped lace, but on a P.W. mixer, its adorable. So please pick me Ree, because that would really make for a great celebration.
Today I went to Emmers and made prune cake. But I didn't even get to eat any! Isn't that just so horrible? (I'm not being sarcastic here, I really like prunes. I like cake too so it can't be that bad) We were going to deliver some to Shy Guy, but we ran out of time. No cake for me, no cake for him. Sorry buddy, but that's how things work around this joint. I really don't like not being able to have cake.
Sincerely,
According to my Chinese fortune, Wednesday is my lucky day.
PS:
I love lemongrass.
I really like this too.
P.W. does not know me. She has no idea I exist. There is the link for ya. Too bad I'm not being paid for all this great advertising. Then I'd throw away that old Chinese proverb. After all, its Friday.

Pioneer Person
The only Pioneer I know is my moms friend Ree. And I dont even know her. That's how fragile this relationship is. She wrote a cookbook and I really like it. I've been to the edge of her ranch. I practially know her. But I don't.
Here's the cookbook. We even have a signed copy. Ree is my brush with greatness. She is so cool she is getting a show on food network on August 27th. I absolutely will watch it.
I actually had a dream about this Pioneer Person. I dreamed that I went to her Ranch and we ate chocolate sheet cake and enjoyed ourselves immensely . I also dreamed that I saw this really funky cow that looked like a sweet potato and I thought it was weird. Her kids thought i was some crazy city girl because I'd never seen a cow that looked like a sweet potato!
Sincerely,
Dreams do come true....sometimes.

Red Rose day
I like Roses. I love red ones. They are very lovely. So today as I was trying to decide how to celebrate, without buying a rose, mom reminded me that Pioneer Woman just posted about paper flowers. And so I tried to celebrate:
I tried making these...i failed miserably.I mean, how hard can it be to roll up a piece of paper???
Here's the tutorial photo. Trust me, its NOT as easy as it looks. I hope you try it. I hope you have fun celebrating red rose day. I did. Even though my roses were a total flop. And as I was (attempting) to make them, I thought of this:
Moses supposes his toes-es were roses, but Moses supposes erroneously.
haha, i love that. :)
Sincerley,
I dont suppose my toes-es are roses.
PS: here's the link to the Paper Flowers post on the Pioneer Woman. I can't wait for her cooking show. I am thrilled. I knew she would get one. I always have known.
