Europe Soundtrack.

Ironically enough, I heard nearly all these songs while in Europe. Don't be fooled by the romantic idea of accordion music or german polka! 99.9% of Europeans listen to American/English music. Which at first was kind of a let down because, how un exotic! On the other hand, hearing english while abroad is probably one of the most beautiful sounds EVER. It's a toss up.

Enjoy the tunes that got me through my makeup routine in Amsterdam, London, Germany and Paris!

I swear the only reason teenage girls know that Amsterdam exists is because of Hazel Grace Lancaster. Despite all the history and the VAN GOUGH museum and you know, other things of significance. I am happy to report that I DID in fact know Amsterdam existed before the craze, but even after I still wasn't interested in coming. I was convinced that Amsterdam was nothing more than sex and the fault in our stars....which may or may not be one in the same.

AMSTERDAM IS SO COOL. It's amazing. The people are friendly and most everyone speaks English very well, I've never seen cooler coffee shops in my life (Paris needs to get with the times) and the cute canal streets are an instagrammers dream, if I may be so shallow as to say so.

Amsterdam is broken into many parts because, Amsterdam.

BOCA'S
Now I'm NOT  a foodie but I did really enjoy the food/cafe portions of our trip. So much so that I actually wrote down everywhere we went (That was good!) Our first night we ate at Boca's and ended up ordering the same thing as the people next to us, unintentionally. They probably thought we copied them but whatever.

BLOEMENMARKT
A floating flower market! This made my flower loving heart very happy. It was different than I expected (super touristy and not a ton of fresh flowers) but there are bulbs upon bulbs of every type of tulip you can ever imagine. I ended up with a bag of peonies bulbs because I like to prove that I am not swayed by cultural norms or the status quo but instead choose to be different and original and forge my own path.

Also, I really like peonies.

HI EVERYONE HERES A PHOTO OF ME ON THE SAME BENCH THAT ANSEL ELGOT SAT ON....AKA HOLY GROUND. CUE ALL THE FEELS AND PUNS AND METAPHORS.

Also, I actually don't really love The Fault in Our Stars. I just really like participating in average teenage girl things.

THE Venetian Experience.

It feels like it was many eons ago that we were wandering about Venice! Here's the thing about Venice, you can't drive anywhere, and, of course, we opted for the true Venetian experience which meant our hotel was in the heart of Venice! Which was fun and all, but walking  around for an hour carrying all our luggage was a little exhausting/not the Venice experience we had pictured.

The next morning we headed out (only after I'd climbed out the window of our room because, it's Venice!) and began wandering around the city FOR REAL. And when you don't have an overpacked suitcase to pull around, Venice is stunning. By far my favorite Italian city! We ate lunch along the Grand Canal and the view was positively magical.

Also I unintentionally dressed just like a gondolier, so yay!

(how my brain feels whenever I think about this month's schedule.)

May is a calm and tranquil month, filled with lots of beach yoga and Mozart playlists. And of course, a healthy dose of chocolate because what else is summer break for? Or, I guess, that's what May was BEFORE. Before we decided to plan 3 trips, (2 continents, 2 countries, 2 states) over a 30 day period.

Crazy, yes. Full of adventure, yes.

So I had a bunch of lofty goals like dusting my baseboards and having a lemonade stand, things to aspire to in the month of summer! But well, maybe I could have sold lemonade in Italy and maybe I'll get a chance to clean the baseboards at the White House, because that's how things are looking!

But anyway!

We are back from Italia and we had the most Italian time. I can't believe it really, I've been to Italy! And all over Italy for that matter. I've had pizza from almost every Italian city (MUCH more on that later, if you can imagine!) and Napoli pizza is where it's at, by the way.

So many stories and adventures to share, things are just getting started!

TO PARIS, FOR A MOMENT.

It's a funny thing, the whole song-nostalgia deal. The night before Paris, the night before the most incredible few days of my life, was a flurry of scarfs, tights and accordion music. I was dancing around my room, twirling in my new hat and dreaming of macaroons with music from Paris (ahem, youtube) as my soundtrack.

I had forgotten about my little escape until a month or so after Paris, and I remembered in Walmart (of all places!) Whilst searching for a birthday card (a fruitless search, as far as cards are related) I of course had to test every musical card ever created. But I found one, one with a Louis Armstrong song, a song I listened to the night before Paris, a song I heard multiple times while in Paris. And all those macaroon dreams and Paris butterflies came right back in an instant.

Thus, a play list! Because I read somewhere, that Paris is a state of mind! And nothing could be better than some nostalgic and perfectly Parisian music. So let's go to Paris for a moment, shall we?
